We visited the Kam Wah Chung museum but had to get some food nearby. One of the few local restaurants turned out to be surprisingly good. You get a lot for what you pay for. I got a 16 oz ribeye with french fries and a salad as sides. The ribeye was surprisingly good. We also got the hot wings which were huge. The fried skin was thick and crunchy and the meat was juicy. The server we had was very nice and accommodating. The restaurant seemed a little understaff and there was a wait for the food but it was worth it.

The prime rib and chicken fried steak were both delicious. The food came in a reasonable amount of time and the prices were better than most chain restaurants. We would come back for sure.

We ate here on Friday and again before we went home on Sunday. The best prime rib I have had in years, and perfectly smoked brisket. Prices were very reasonable, and the waitresses were both extremely friendly. We live 2.5 hours away, and we would go back to John Day just to eat here.

Quiet when we visited on a Monday evening, beer was good and a couple of locals at the lottery machines and playing pool. Friendly environment.

I’ve eaten here probably 5 times in the last couple years, at least once everytime I go to John Day (usually on motorcycle trips). Food is usually good and prices reasonable. Service is generally good, albeit a bit slow, but this last time, it was just plain BAD. It took over 30 minutes to get menus and another 20 for water and to take our order. The place was full, but not packed (there was no wait for a table). I wanted to order the special, but 50 minutes after being seated, and before taking our order, it was no longer available. I don’t know what the problem was, but almost 90 minutes from the time we arrived until finally getting our food is not what I would describe as good service

Stopped in for lunch. Asked for a burger. Waitress was friendly( Jayden) Food was good. Food came up quickly. A couple older folks were at the bar visiting as it was afternoon. Nice place good atmosphere.

We stopped for a late lunch during the week. There were only two or three other tables that were occupied, besides ours. It took awhile for the food to arrive, but it was hot and tasted good. The server was cordial, but not necessarily friendly.
