My mom recommended this place for us to try out for breakfast and I’m glad we did. A very cute lil spot with a good selection of breakfast foods to try from. I got their avocado toast (highly recommend) my mom got their spinach and sausage quiche which was very yummy and we both shared a cranberry & lemon scone (perfect mix of lemon & cranberry) we both got a coffee and they were quite yummy. We ordered and we waited barely 10 minutes for our food, even with just 2 of them there that morning they were very fast to deliver the food. Highly recommend trying this place!

First I want to say the quiche is truly amazing. I have dietary restrictions so finding something quick and yummy that meets my needs is hard in this area. The quiche of the day was asparagus and tomato and it was packed with flavor. I don’t even like asparagus but they got the recipe just right on this quiche.

I also had a gingerbread latte and I enjoyed the flavor of the coffee. It’s mild and nutty. If you don’t prefer a super strong coffee taste you will love it. I ordered an extra shot of espresso on my second trip.

Though I can’t say anyone was particularly rude to me, I do think the service could have been a little more friendly. I just assumed they were not having the best day and didn’t take it personally.

In fact, I sent my mom there the next day. I did find the no laptop notes a little off putting at first but it’s not a huge deal to me. I know we’ve all become accustomed to being constantly plugged in, but I think it’s pretty cool to have one quaint coffee shop to take a quick break from it all, have a nice treat, and move on. All in all, for me it’s about the food and I say you should try it for yourself. Give a little GRACE to the Grit & Grind.

Went here for coffee a couple weeks ago. Asked the lady working a simple question about a parade and she was very rude, but whatever. Then, another customer who was a happy old man enjoying his day was struggling to pull a chair out so he wasn’t able to sit, and forgot his cups on the table and the owner I assume ran outside and shook the cups in his face asking “are you going to get this????” Way more energy than just throwing the cups out. It’s not a personal problem, your entire business is run by rude people. If the reviews have a pattern of how rude you all are and how unwelcoming your shop is, maybe so a self evaluation.

Well the good news, I was on the company (Hinckley) dime for a couple weeks writing my blurb for Motor Yacht mag before the wooden boat show. I was trying to soak in the local flavor as a proud Maine Yankee. Consequently, I was lucky enough to try nearly every coffee and breakfast shop between here and Hemingway and in this Northerners opinion this is the best coffee and baked goods locally. The bad news, lots of rules, signs and or agitated voices projecting them. No Internet, no laptops, cell phone use slightly frowned upon, no dogs inside, though welcome on leash outside, no external coffees or drinks and clearly the owners are not supporters of any potentially increased development plans. I witnessed often slightly marginal service by Boston standards followed by bouts of wonderful sustained Southern hospitality. Who knows? Service seems like a box of chocolates. That said, if y’all can live with the quisi Gestapo like rules and have your papers in order this is still the best place. Edit 11/23/25 as you can see by the response below I rest my case.

I really wanted to see what all the bad reviews were about, so I chose the place based on the bad reviews and I’m glad I did. The quiche was fantastic, the coffee was phenomenal. Easy parking in and out in a few minutes. The place only has 3 tables and is pretty small so I get not being able to accommodate people camping out in the few chairs but the signage is a bit much. The lady was nice and made a great flat white the place smelled so good, complements to the chef. I did try the scone as well per the scone aficionados directive and I’m glad I ordered it, blueberry filled and fresh. Overall It was a great experience, you should give them a shot. Looks like they support Harris which makes sense being it’s a coffee shop.

Worster‘s loss is Georgetown‘s gain. Wonderful to see Jack and Trish, but more importantly Jack has not lost his expertise for cooking. It was fabulous. I had a salmon sandwich on and everything bagel with the best home fries I’ve ever had and Rick had the huge breakfast with everything on. It made me a little jealous.

Love this place! My favorite coffee in Georgetown. Great iced coffee, loved the avocado toast & quiche. The baked goods are great, too, love the scones with frosting. The owners/ staff are so nice too!

We had the quiche and an almond coffee latte. The quiches’ texture were perfect with a nice light crust. Would recommend!

Our service was fine, as opposed to other reviews. The coffee had a nutty note, maybe ratios were off. And no restroom, which is annoying. But otherwise fine location.

I had the pleasure of visiting **Grit and Grind** this morning while staying at The George in Georgetown, and I’m so glad I popped in! Tucked across the street, this charming little spot offers a cozy, welcoming vibe that you just don’t get at big chain coffee shops. From the moment I walked in, I felt at home — the atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the space, though quaint, is perfect for a peaceful coffee break.

The service was top-notch. I was in and out quickly, which is always a pleasant surprise. I ordered a **vanilla latte**, a **blueberry muffin**, and a **cinnamon raisin scone**, and everything was absolutely delicious. Each bite was a treat, and the latte was just the right balance of smooth and flavorful.

I also appreciated the thoughtful approach to the limited seating. With only four tables, I totally understand the emphasis on keeping them available for customers who plan to dine in. It’s a small, intimate space, and I think it adds to the charm.

If you’re looking for a cozy, local coffee shop experience, this is the place. I’ll definitely be back for another visit next time I’m in Georgetown!
