Reviews
Came here after seeing many reviews on instagram.
They do pretty much require bookings for popular times (at least when we went).
Food:
-We thought the wagyu beef and porcini ragu rigatoni was very good. Well seasoned, not too heavy, and plenty of parmesean. Pasta al dente.
The staff were accomodating and plated everything to share.
-The steak was tender and cooked well however nothing extremely special.
-On the other hand, the tiramisu might’ve been the best I ever tasted, they come around with a big tray and scoop you a large heaping per serve. Very decadent, not super sweet, not soggy.
Overall I would probably rate it a 4.5, probably being a bit harsh for a 4, but am keen to eat there again, or at their Sydney branch.
On top of the excellent service the food was also incredible, we will be back!
First, when the waiter brought the tiramisu to our table, he accidentally spilled it and stained my clothes badly (as shown in the video). I even wonder: if I had been sitting any closer, would it have gotten on my face? Another waitress noticed the stain only when we were about to leave and tried to wipe it with a napkin, but it was not fully cleaned. The waiter who actually made the mess never apologized once, and the restaurant did not offer any apology or compensation at all.
Second, the service was extremely slow. After we finished the dishes on table, we waited for a very long time and asked three times for our other food, but nothing came. We later found out that because the waiter who took our extra order was different from the original one, they did not communicate to each other so our new order was not told to the kitchen. Since we were in a hurry, we had to cancel two dishes and only asked for the tiramisu. Even then, the server carrying the tiramisu walked past our table many times without serving us.
In the end, this meal took us nearly three hours, and we left with a terrible experience, stained clothes, no apology, and no compensation. I cannot recommend this restaurant at all.
However the food is just fine. Not bad but nothing ground breaking or innovative. I’d like to see something stand out for the amount I’m paying to dine here.
Great service and atmosphere but the restaurant lacks personality.
But I must say my experience for the first time (and my family’s second experience) was phenomenal! Could not fault one thing whilst dining for lunch. Greeted warm and friendly at the door, the staff setting up plates, cutlery and refilling table water at our table and the quality and taste of the food was delicious!
Definitely will be coming back again to try out the other dishes and of course desserts when im down again next year or even your Sydney store which is closee to home (to be opened soon at time of this review)!
I loved settling in with good company, catching up on all the moments that had slipped by since we last met. There’s something deeply satisfying about sharing a meal while listening to remarkable people speak about their interesting lives; it makes every bite more meaningful.
The dishes were a delight in themselves: the spanner crab linguini and mushroom risotto were beautifully balanced and full of flavour, the octopus carpaccio was nothing short of divine, and even the mac and cheese added a comforting touch to the table. Rib eye was delicious. This is great place if you love a grill.
The service was impeccable, the wine cellar was to die for, my wine glass never sat empty, and the staff were consistently warm and attentive.
A truly memorable dining experience. I’ll definitely be coming back.
The arrival experience was cold and uninviting, a chap in a suit showed no interest in extending any form of greeting, just waited to be told what we were there for!
The restaurant is stunning in terms of design and layout, and seating is comfortable even if tables are fairly close together.
We started with 2 Sydney Rock oysters and 2 Tasmanian Pacific oysters, all very good, we liked the Tassie ones best.
We ordered mixed bread which was OK as it should be for $16.50. For starters we shared the Salumi misti with some lovely bresaola, San Danielle and Mortadella and a piece of mozzarella, it came garnished with pickled green peppers and olives. The duck croquettes were lacking any real flavour and the aioli did little to add to the dish.
For main course we ordered the 600Gr bone in Rib Eye which was cooked to perfection, well rested and tasty, with the rib eye we ordered roast potatoes that unfortunately were more like boiled potatoes flashed through the oven, not at all crispy, the Green beans were undercooked, they did not even reach the “al dente” stage and completely lacking any seasoning. We asked for Bearnaise amd red wine sauces, both served in cheap ugly sauceboats, red wine sauce was just warm and the Bearnaise somewhat runny, disappointing.
In terms of the food, the only real star was the warm apple pie which was exceptional, crispy pastry and very very good filling.
For mains, the scotch fillet with red wine sauce was outstanding, cooked to perfection and full of flavour. Dessert truly took things to another level. The famous tiramisu lived up to its reputation, and the meringue vanilla cake was completely out of this world.
I left feeling genuinely happy and already looking forward to going back to experience this very special place again. Highly recommended.
