I’ll start with the positive. The beer battered fish was fresh and light with good flavor and cooked just right. Now for the not so great. We had been going to Great Bay for a long time, but hadn’t visited for a few years. The menu was completely different and prices were more than doubled. The soup of the day, a seafood bisque, was $7.99 a cup and $11.99 a bowl. I was told there was a lot of real seafood in it, making it well worth the price. The soup was a globby goup more than a bisque and the only recognizable “seafood” in it was imitation crab meat. There were a couple other chunks of something, but certainly nothing recognizable in appearance or flavor. The entree was a batter fried fish, which came with one side for $17.99. I ordered french fries and ordered an extra side ($3) of cole slaw. The fish and fries were very good, but the cole slaw was a no show. There was a wilted green item on the plate as well, which appeared to be well used kale. Our server never even refilled our drinks or asked. The fish came with a sauce, which I put to the side after I saw what looked to be a hair in it. When the server came with the check, I asked for a to go box and showed her the sauce with what appeared to be a hair in it. She went and showed it to someone in the kitchen who assured her it was not a hair, but was merely from his pastry brush that he used to brush the fish. She told me that because it wasn’t a hair, I shouldn’t be angry about it! Also, my fish was not brushed, it was fried! Then I told her I shouldn’t be charged for the cole slaw because I didn’t get it. So she brought out a cole slaw to go and was surprised when I didn’t want it! THEN, I asked her to take the charge for the cole slaw off the bill…now, we were using an Entertainment Book coupon, so tax and tip were included in the bill…she took the $3. off for the cole slaw, but didn’t change the tax or tip amounts. Oh, and I also wanted to mention the ketchup bottle. Yes, many restaurants refill the same bottle…but the paper was still on this and it was worn and filthy. It made me wonder how long they had been simply refilling and never washing. I won’t be going back, sorry. I don’t know if all of this was because we were using a coupon, but it was not acceptable.

A little disappointing. Expected higher quality considering the price. Had the stuffed scallops which were good but not great. Some were overcooked and a little chewy. Nice atmosphere though, friendly staff, and good service.

We have been going here for years. The meals were good but the salmon was a little over done. Service is excellent. We will be back.
