Positives-loved the decor, country themed. Waitress was great.
Negatives-Very dirty floor. Went to restrooms in back of place so passed the kitchen. Wish I hadn’t. Place needs a good cleaning
Food-husband ordered special-sancho with tots, drink&dessert. I had fried chicken sandwich, fries & drink. He didn’t care for his meal; which is saying something because he never complains. My chicken had a bad smell that I couldn’t get past-not even real chicken; some kind of pressed patty-could only choke down a couple of bites. Fries were good.

Passing through the area on Highway 36 about 1:30 in the afternoon on a Wednesday, and the restaurant in Mankato was closed for the afternoon, so I went north to Burr Oak, just to see if anything was there, and found this little gem of a cafe. The special of the day was Beef and Bell Peppers in gravy, with mashed potatoes. It also came with a tall iced tea, and home-made bread pudding for desert. Everything was VERY excellent. You can’t get good home-style cooking like this at any major chain. My son also got the special, and a soda. Our total bill for this most excellent lunch was only $15. Service was very friendly, big smiles, so I tipped them $5 more. It’s not very out of the way, just 5 minutes north of hwy 36, and I will make it a point to return when I’m in the area. Yes, they do take credit cards.

Very cute cafe. Well worth the detour off Hwy 36. Lady was exceptionally nice and made us feel like a regular. Food was wonderful too!
