Review: My $21 Meal At Gordon Ramsay Fish & Chips In NYC Was …
Reviews
The service was horrible. The lady that helped us at the front counter said maybe 2 words to me. No thank you, no welcome. She acted as though it was a problem that I was there.
Thanksgiving day, everyone around – and maybe 5 customers in here. Damn shame, I’m surprised Gordon Ramsay has such horrible workers. The manager needs to do something about that.
Overall, the customer service and dingy dirty atmosphere made for a will not return.
I got the Fish & Chips Combo ($19.99) with Gordon’s Tartar Sauce and the Spicy Aioli, and a Biscoff Shake ($9.99).
I didn’t get the Biscoff Shake as it usually comes. No whipped cream or other toppings as pictured. The staff just seemed undertrained too.
Coming to the Fish & Chips, they tasted pretty basic and had none of the extraordinary taste you would expect at a Ramsay’s. The only good thing was probably the sauces. To sum up in Gordon’s words: What a Shame!
I know the business just responds to every negative review with an AI template of “please email us.” Let me tell you sir/madam, instead of responding this way to your negative reviews, please just try to improve the quality of the service against which you received that negative review. Thank you.
I hope this message finds you well. My family and I have just returned from a trip to America, and after watching your 50 States America Cook-Off — which my children absolutely loved — they were very excited to try your famous fish and chips when we visited New York.
Unfortunately, I’m writing to share our disappointment with the experience we had at your restaurant there. We paid over $100 for four portions of fish and chips and three soft drinks. The soft drinks came from a self-service dispenser, which had already run out of two of the options we wanted and still hadn’t been refilled by the time we finished eating. I eventually had to request a refund for one of the drinks.
The food itself was mixed. The three fingers of fish were actually really nice — perfectly cooked and full of flavour — but the rest of the meal fell far short of expectations. The fish and chips were served in a box with two dips and a plastic knife and fork. The “chips” were actually French fries — and very poor ones at that. None of us could finish them.
Having watched your shows and seen the high standards you demand of your chefs, I can’t imagine you would be anything but appalled at the quality of what was being served under your name. I don’t know how often you visit or review this location, but I truly believe it is damaging to your reputation. The experience fell far below the standard associated with your brand. I’ve attached a photo so you can see exactly what we were served.
I hope you’ll consider reviewing this restaurant personally. I’m sure many fans, like us, visit expecting the excellence you’re known for — and I’d love to see that reflected in this location as well.
