I ordered Szechuan chicken before and it was perfect. Ordered again, not even a week later and I got this. I tried to take it back and they argued that this was in fact what I ordered. I don’t know on what planet there is water chestnut, mushrooms and zucchini in Szechuan chicken. This entire dish is fundamentally wrong and they couldn’t admit it, actually made me feel stupid about it. WILL NEVER RETURN

Portions are 1/3 what they used to be. The food was very good as was the service. A word of warning…be careful using the restroom. The toilet tipped over as I was using it. I ended up on the floor soaking wet. They comped my lunch when I demanded it. Just saying, they’re lucky i didn’t make a big deal about it and I had a good sense of humor!

Great food. I wanted a nice dinner with great atmosphere. Lately we go out to eat and all the restaurant supplies are stacked everywhere, I’m tired of looking at stick Not here, restaurant was clean the decor was great, bathrooms very very clean we had wonton soup, fantastic. Fried dumplings definitely home made absolutely perfect We had sesame chicken, chicken was tender and seasoned perfectly. Staff was friendly and very attentive. Thank you for a great dinner and dining experience.

We came for lunch, right as they opened, and it was so fresh! The portion size for a lunch plate was not too much that you would have leftovers, but enough to be full. I got the Happy Family and though the wasn’t any scallops, crab and just 2 pieces of shrimp it was still yummy. My other half got the sesame chicken lunch plate, and it was spicy, and yummy. I recommend it.

As one of the few restaurants that strived all these years, Golden Shanghai was certainly one of the more popular Chinese restaurants among the locals. Despite having Shanghai in its name, it actually has a wide variety of Chinese cuisines from Sichuan to Fujian specialty plates, many of these you will not find anywhere in town. Compared to other Chinese restaurants, the decor here is one level above, suitable for casual dining or special occasions. If you are clueless what to order, make sure you ask for recommendation. You will not be disappointed. Here are their spicy beef soup, pickled fish soup, Chinese angel hair noodles and shredded pork wraps.

They now charge a “hospitality” fee, and charge for take out boxes and bags. We weren’t asked what kind of rice we wanted, they just brought steamed rice. The quality and flavor has gone down, in my opinion. I used to enjoy this place.

Used to like eating here about 10-15 years ago but it’s gone way downhill! Chicken now tastes freezer burned. Not even close to being crispy or anything like it’s described as in the menu. Ordered delivery and was asked what type of side I’d like (fried rice, steamed rice, etc) but it showed up and only got to enjoy the nasty excuse for sesame chicken…. Never eating here again

Born and raised in Taiwan, I am always on the lookout for authentic Chinese food. Golden Shanghai has been by far the most genuine place I have been in Denver. The ambience is great. The staff is friendly. The food is amazing. Do ask for their chinese menu when you go. You wont be disappointed!

I am so impressed w/ this place. After YEARS of ordering take out from Golden Shanghai, I finally had the gumption to ask for my food to be spicy WITHOUT sugar. Most places can’t do that, & honestly Chinese food makes me sad because the combination of sweet & savory is not edible to me, so most of the menu is a no-go. They made my Mung Bean Noodles with ZERO sugary sauces & it was amazing! I ate it in like 60 seconds flat. Thank you guys!!! I will always order w/ “no sugars” in the instructions now because they know what they’re doing!
