Authentic, Delicious, and Worth the Visit – Giuseppe’s on 28th Street

Giuseppe’s on 28th Street is one of those places that truly delivers on every level. Featured on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives, it offers a memorable dining experience rooted in quality, care, and authentic flavor.

Everything is made in-house—from the pasta to the sauces—and you can absolutely taste the difference. The homemade noodles are spot-on, and the ingredients are always fresh and well-balanced. The meatballs deserve a special mention: rich, flavorful, and easily some of the best I’ve had.

The menu has something for everyone, and the wait staff are outstanding—friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. Whether you’re a first-time visitor or a regular, they make you feel welcome and taken care of.

During busy times, a reservation is smart, but I’ve also visited when things were quieter and had no trouble getting a table.

Giuseppe’s is a place I’ve been to and absolutely plan to return to. It’s simply a great restaurant with incredible food and a warm, inviting atmosphere. Highly recommend!

I haven’t been here in 10 years, but I always remembered the Barbabietola Rosa pasta. Today, on a whim, I decided to order this because of my fond memory.

Unfortunately, it was not what I remembered. The pasta was sooo salty, but I liked the texture and you could tell it’s homemade. Gorgonzola is a salty cheese as it is so there is really no reason to add salt to the dish. Also, I think a little more sausage would go a long way. I like my sausage sliced thin so that part was nice but it’s so thin and there’s not that many pieces so it throws off the balance of the dish.

I also ordered the bruschetta which I thought was just ok. I wasn’t really experiencing all the flavors that were supposed to be there. Mostly because there was a lack there of.

Tiramisu for dessert, again nothing to write home about.

Since I live far away, have kids and don’t eat much Italian food, this is the last time I will take part in this restaurant. I don’t have any other suggestions because it’s not a cuisine I eat often.

Giuseppe’s reminds me of back east old school Italian restaurants. I have never had anything but absolutely delicious food and the service is always so fast and friendly. The pasta is made fresh and the sauces are all so high quality. We recommend this place to everyone and always bring friends and family when they visit. Do yourself a favor and come to Giuseppe’s.

This is an eclectic and interesting place in a strip mall. That being said I own a restaurant and I really enjoy dining in a places that makes food I don’t think I could ever master at home. I would eat anything this man puts in front of me. Absolutely outstanding. Throw away the atmosphere and the lack of seating you will thoroughly enjoy this place! Authentic eccentric, eclectic a must do!

Richard, the owner, is great… Always treating you with a smile and sharing stories. Cindy is also the best waitress, love her. Been going here forever and still no complaints. Delicious food, warm atmosphere, staff is the best and can’t say enough about the dining experience!

The food here is heaven!!! I’ve only had pasta this fresh and this quality in Manhattan or Italy. You can smell the fresh ingredients! I am a regular at Bianco’s Tratto but honestly after coming here, it’s gonna be really hard to choose where to go for a pasta dish. For now I know I’m gonna be a regular here for sure! I also have to say that what makes this place so special is the super friendly service, from the hostess to the waiters to the owner of the restaurant. They make you feel at home. It’s a really small place so if you want to guarantee a table, book in advance or come early.

I came here again several times since I wrote this review. Here are pictures of the dishes we ordered. All are heavenly except the key lime pie. I didn’t taste the lime at all. It’s mostly a custard tart.

Greg and I were trying to go to the AZ state fair 9/26/2023, but due to our poor planning, the fair is only open Thursday-Sunday, lol. We then looked up Giuseppe’s via Guy Fieri’s AZ Triple D’s restaurant recommendations. We started off with an appetizer “Suppli di Riso” along with garlic bread our bread was $5.00. OMG, the 3 risotto balls were filled with mozzarella, lightly coated, then fried, resting in a marinara sauce $10.00. For dinner, Greg had the “Italian Mac and Cheese” made with Parmigiano, mozzarella, fontina, prosciutto, cream, and butter baked until golden brown “HOT” $19.00. Absolutely devine. I liked it better than mine, but don’t get me wrong, mine was just as delicious! I had the “Bolognese Ragu” homemade tagliatelle with their famous 7 meat ragu $21.00. Their noodles were sooo tender they almost melted in your mouth. Greg drank a Peroni lager $6.00, and I had the Arceno Chianti Classico $8.50. For dessert, we were going to try the Tiramisu but were beat out of the last piece. We ended up trying the “Keylime Mascarpone Tart $7.00. It was ok. I don’t think I’d order again.

Went to this restaurant while I was in Phoenix. Hole in the wall tucked in a strip mall. Restaurant is very small. Glad we made reservations. Food and service were really good. Had a very nice meal

Had a nice meal just after arriving at the airport and a long day of travel. Started with the tomato, olive and avocado salad. Fantastic! Big enough for two to share as an appetizer. Main course of their specialty bolognese with pappardelle pasta. The sauce with seven meats was excellent. The pasta is homemade but mine was over cooked. Would definitely return and recommend.
