I went there on a Wednesday for lunch take out. I got the Poutine lunch special (which I could only find online, not in store) and a cup of chili.
The chili was ok, but nothing special. I’d rather not have spent the $5.
The Poutine was an “American” take on the dish, as there weren’t any cheese curds which was a big disappointment for me personally. In place of cheese curds they use melted cheddar. It had a surprising amount of meat on it in big chunks (maybe brisket?). I thought maybe that would make up for the disappointment with the lack of cheese curds. Unfortunately that wasn’t the case. The flavor of the meat was good, but it was incredibly dry, almost as if it was yesterday’s leftovers. The texture of it was splintery and came off in splinters as I chewed.
I really wanted to like this place, but unfortunately it’s not somewhere I’ll be going back to. The prices are fairly high to begin with, so that on top of the mediocre to bad food is a definite miss in my books.

I asked the guy behind the bar what did they recommend they recommended the burnt ends, I ordered that as a dinner it cost me $22 I put a picture as you see what I got the meat was not hot enough it was very dry the portions were very small for $22 worth of food as you see the place is empty for that reason !!!!!! and the food did not taste to the Quality that it should give me a plastic cup for water as you see in the pictures, the two sides I ordered were garlic mashed potatoes and coleslaw honest opinion you rather have KFC mashed potatoes and coleslaw that would taste better

Great BBQ options and the staff is friendly, as the cashier patiently explained some of the menu options they had as well as recommend the side sauces they had to pair with your order. I ordered the brisket sandwich and it was amazing!!

Nice place to have in midst of un-BBQ country. We enjoyed the brisket and pulled pork sandwiches but wish the fries were a little more crunchy. Thank you, we enjoyed our food.

We decided to try this place based on their 4.0 rating. The restaurant was empty at 5:30 on a Friday, but that is understandable. The man at the counter was very helpful.
I ordered the Brisket Dinner at $15.99 and it only took about ten minutes to arrive. The portions were very small for the price. My sides consisted of the garlic mashed potatoes and another of beans. These were served in a small, maybe 1/3 cup container. That’s pretty small. The potatoes were quite good, but at $15.99, one would expect a larger helping.
The brisket was wonderful and very tender. They served six slices which seemed okay for the price, but given the small side portions, I felt that the meal should hover around the $10.00 mark. The meal came with a nice sized portion of cornbread that had a slight hint of lemon. Wow, what a great addition to the mix.
My side had the pulled pork sliders and contrary to the other reviews was provided a reasonable portion.
Interestingly, we were unable to locate any salt or pepper shakers anywhere.
I gave this three-stars because of the balance between price and small side portions and the expectation that you bus your own table. The quality of the food is high and I’d like to return to try their wings.

Every time I see a place serving smoked brisket I stop and try it. I bought 2 lbs at 11:15 am and drove 30 minutes back to my house before sampling the best brisket I have eaten in 6 years. The meat was cooked perfectly and fell apart without any cheweyness. Every bite was tender and juicy. Their house sauce is good although the flavor is not pronounced in the meat. I will definitely drive the 30 minutes to eat again.

Just had an office party catered by Gideon’s. We have about 25 people in the office and had clients visiting from the south where BBQ is king. Gideon’s was attentive, precise, and prompt. Our entire order was 100% correct. We ordered the 3-meat catering package which included brisket/burnt ends, babyback ribs, and pulled chicken. For sides we had mac&cheese, cornbread, and salad. We also got 100 wings of different flavors. There was not one thing people did not fawn over. The burnt ends are absolutely amazing and the wings are some of the best we ever had. The Carolina Mustard sauce is so perfect you could eat it like soup, but it is perfect on any of their meats. Their standard BBQ sauces are equally perfect. They’re a mixture of your sticky KC sauces and vinegary Carolina sauces. Our southern visitors were also impressed to the point where Gideon’s outdid any BBQ they had in the south, unanimously. Highly recommend this BBQ, excellent food, big portions, and even better prices.

I was highly disappointed with my meal and so was my wife, our food was not hot, the brisket looked and tasted like it was old, the pulled chicken had no flavor and was tough and cold, the mac n cheese was awful, thr mashed sweet potatoes were awful. Not to mention the sides are ridiculously small, the greens were good and the Carolina Mustard is an excellent sauce, with all that being said, it was our first and last time at this restaurant.
