It almost got a 5 star review but we had a few hiccups in the beginning. The restaurant opens at 11am. My family arrived around 11:15am and the front doors were locked. We ran into some kitchen workers and they told us maybe another 30 minutes before their boss came with the key. We eventually got inside and they were slow to get our order. I eventually just wrote out what dishes we wanted. I would avoid the water here if you eat in. The interior is fairly small and very basic. They have some seating inside and we were a party of 7 including 2 kids. Other than that, the food itself is amazing. We knew it probably would have been better to get our food to go but my mom’s place doesn’t have enough seating. We ordered the pepper beef, orange chicken, chow fun with beef, house fried rice, and some dim sum dishes for the kids we literally have nothing negative to say about the food. My mom and sister even ordered from them again the following week.

Solid Chinese-American restaurant ran by Cantonese people. They seemed short-staffed due to COVID so please be patient. I called in for order and was told 30 min wait time – no biggie! SUPPORT LOCAL !!
We got the pepper and salt pork chop – juicy and fried to perfection! Recommended.
The fish with black bean sauce is solid too. I will ask for spicy next time for that extra kick.

New restaurant, delicious food, we eat string beens and beef chao fun. This was a rice noodle gluten free and we asked to have later gluten free soy sauce. Staff were courteous and we liked the service. A must visit. They have delivery with Uber Eats!

Authentic Cantonese cuisine. All the food was good. From the wonton soup, the chicken and broccoli and the Chow Mein. The server was very helpful. My wife loved the salted chili chicken wings.

A MUST TRY! These guys are excellent cooks and their food shows it. We tried the brocoly beef, shrimp dumplings, and broccoli beef. A.M.A.Z.I.N.G.!!

my husband and i love ordering delivery from y&j gourmet! we’ve never had a dish we didn’t like, and the service has always been friendly and prompt. ordering y&j on nye has become a tradition and we always order a tonne of food so we have leftovers for days. highly recommend the spicy eggplant and spicy chicken wontons! they also have monthly specials if you subscribe to their emails. thanks for another delicious nye meal, y&j!

Today we tried this place for the first time and it was delicious! First of all, the staff here were very friendly, helpful and attentive. The food we ordered (egg rolls, house fried rice and chicken wings) were hot, fresh and flavorful. We can’t speak highly enough of our experience here. We are planning to come back the next time we’re in Pasadena.

Food is good but they need to change the pictures if it doesn’t come as is. Every picture of the beef is just beef with broccoli. This is what I got with little beef. I don’t understand why they would do this! It doesn’t mention that it comes with 7 chopped onions 🙁 was hoping for way more beef! FYI I already ate the beef out of it but look how many onions there are. Completely unnecessary and uncalled for! I’ll make sure to order no onions next time

Absolutely delicious Cantonese food. Their fish dishes are delicious. Kung Pao came with sprinkled dried chili and roasted peanuts. Vermicelli was flavorful and smokey. This place is far closer to authentic than most of the Americanized joints, and I appreciate it.
