It’s a George Webb’s, Waffle House’s slightly more civilized cousin.
I stopped in for a quick Sunday breakfast. My Denver omelette was well prepared and came out quickly. The service was interesting because there was a shift change and the trainee server was in a hurry to leave. Off putting for sure but par for this type of place.
Overall, this is old school, basic dinor with ok food. It does the job.

Staff was pretty friendly. We seated ourselves in the retro diner booth.
Got ourselves some burgers and fries. The patty was very small. But overall good. I added cheese and grilled onions and it was a good value. The fries were unsalted but salt was available. Normally I’ve gotten sick after eating at George Webb. But this time I didn’t. So this location on a weekday afternoon was pretty good.

I am a Milwaukee native. I described George Webb‘s to a friend of mine. I told him that it was like waffle House of the north. It did not disappoint. We went for breakfast and almost saw a fist fight with the weight staff.
I don’t know what the buildup to it was, but it almost came to blows. It was dinner and a show.
That being said, the breakfast was delicious as always, prepared perfectly. I’d eat there every day if they let me.

Food was really good! It’s very down-home, rustic, stick-to-your-ribs style food that’s really refreshing with all the taverns and bars and nicer restaurants around that area. However, the owner? I’m guessing? Is incredibly rude, often forgets drinks and sides when she’s the server, and has a “go get it yourself” attitude when people ask for things.
One couple came in and sat at the table behind me and asked if there was a high chair. The lady who I presume is the owner didn’t even answer her, just pointed over in the corner where they’re stacked.
That said, the rest of the serving staff is lovely and even prevented an issue where the owner tried to hand a plate to the wrong person. They were all very friendly all smiles the whole time.

Unfortunately, the Doctor MLK Drive location hasn’t been living up to the franchise’s usual quality. The portion sizes there feel noticeably smaller than other Webb’s spots, and the staff can come off as rude or uninterested, which is disappointing considering how welcoming the franchise usually is. On top of that, the restaurant is frequently closed despite being a 24-hour establishment, which defeats one of the main reasons people choose George Webb in the first place.
I still love George Webb’s as a whole — the franchise as a whole does things right, and most locations are fantastic. But the MLK Drive location could definitely use improvement to match the level of service and reliability the brand is known for.

We are traveling from east Tennessee and decided to do a little bit of nostalgic dining in ǰjour hometown. So we chose to go to good old George webbs on Old World 3rd Street. Where a lot of late-night, post-club meetups and breakfasts. When we arrived, we were NOT warmly greeted, seated ourselves, and were loudly greeted by “It’s gon be 35-40 minutes!” No menus given, no drink orders taken, almost immediately, the soft voice from one of the 2 nice ladies who were already seated before us asks how long their food would take. The waitress snappily retorted, “Didn’t I tell yall it was gon be a wait when you came in?” The woman said she only asked because she just heard the waitress tell us it was gonna be a wait. Their food came and was placed angrily and grumbly before the women. The waitress sulked and griped even more when she was told the pancakes were cold. At that point, we decided against being around negative energy and being prepared in that environment.

It wears its heart on its sleeve. Affordable, friendly and quick service. All American comfort food. It looks like a duck, sounds like a duck and is a duck. Not a Great date night spot, but the staff is helpful and constantly moocing.

I went in today around 12 with my sisters. There was two female servers.I didn’t get names. The older woman who had glasses with Grey hair was a sweetheart…But the other woman was completely unprofessional n highly disrespectful.
