Been going to Gau Poung for many many years. Never had a bad meal there. In fact, when they closed at 1 time for a year or so we NEVER found another Chinese Restaurant that was comparable. LOVE THIS PLACE. Judy is awesome. Can’t wait to dine in again

BEST CHINESE FOOD EVER!! Want to keep it a secret but Judy is too kind and the food is too tasty. Been going here my whole life & always host family parties in the back room here. The staff are warm and friendly – excellent food & service. Ask for Jerry’s Eggplant – it’s not on the menu, it’s a dish created by Judy’s late husband (who was also incredibly kind).

After the lotus garden garden closed in foster city, my family searched for an appetizing Chinese restaurant as a substitute. After much searching, we picked this one! The food is wonderful, and they are so generous with the portions! Also, members of the wait staff are ridiculously attractive. Please give this restaurant a shot, you will not be disappointed.

I am a visitor passing through and wanted some good chinese food. I found Gau Poang online and saw it rated 4.6 stars so I decided to try it. I called to see if they delivered and was told yes. The rude lady that answered, placed me on hold for over 5 minutes. When she finally came to the phone, I asked her where I could see their menu because it was not on the site. This lady had to nerve to tell me to go onto Google or one of those sites and search for it and once I find it and know what I want to call her back. She ended the conversation with, how about that? Really???? Really??? This is how we service customers in San Francisco? Welcome…I hope you enjoyed your stay.

I have been living here in San Mateo since 2011 and Gau Poang is my go-to Chinese Resturant. Coming from San Francisco, I am pretty selective in my Chinese Resturants. This one is TOP TIER. The food is delicious and the people are extremely friendly. Judy the owner is always fun to chat with. She always puts a smile on my face when I make my visit. My favorite dish is a Bar B Q Pork Fried Rice. I would substitute it with brown rice. Another dish I recommend is the Cashew Chicken. Dining In & Take Out are both great. We had both our kid’s Baptism reception at Gau Poang. I highly recommend this place if you plan to do any special events. Thanks again Gau Poang for being one of our favorites.

We’ve been going to Gau Poang for over 40 years, thats right 40 years. Whats more amazing is most of the dishes we love are still on the menu. Judy makes sure that the flavors, consistency and quality remain intact.Thats also amazing in the restaurant business. Their Mushi Pork is the best anywhere, Hot ‘n Sour soup is fabulous as is most anything on the menu. Their prices have remained fair they’re still using linens and the service is spot on. In a world where restaurants are cutting back on all these niceties, and trying so hard to be hip and current Gau Poang is like coming home to an old friend. Judy never retire please, my family loves this place and always looks forward to their next meal there.J
