Best dining experience on the island. Small, intimate and welcoming. The team clearly knows what they are doing and they made the whole night feel special. We were lucky to grab a same-day spot. Little touches stood out, like asking our favorite color and then bringing a matching glass to drink sake in that color.

Food was incredibly fresh and they handled allergies on the spot without any issue. Every dish was thoughtful and delicious. The egg custard soup was my favorite.

Highly recommended.

The only tricky part was finding the location. You need to go up the elevator off Kalakaua Ave as if you’re headed to Búho Cocina y Cantina. Tell the receptionist you’re visiting Fukurou, and they’ll guide you in.

Very cool place. Service is good.

The quality was very fresh and some of the items were done thoughtfully. The idea of noodle with the ice bowl design was Michelin level.

Personally, I felt the flavor for the sushi was lacking. In general, the taste was lighter.

It’s a small restaurant inside the Wikki Shopping Plaza. Go to the Búho Cocina y Cantina reception and mention Fukurou. The receptionist will bring you to the restaurant which is at the left hand corner at the back. Food was top quality. Service was attentive. Price was very reasonable for the quality of food. It was an enjoyable evening. Highly recommended.

Speakeasy Omakase that is tucked behind another restaurant (Buho), thankfully I read reviews before hand to navigate or else we would have been lost ducks! The 12 course meal for $90 was perfect for us. Every piece was intricately made and tastes delicious.

I would skip out on their Oolong Hai – that drink threw me off.

We experienced the 12-course omakase, though it was a bit misleading, other reviews mentioned receiving around 14 courses for $90 per person, and their website listed the same back on November 8, 2024.

That said, it was still a fun and unique experience. Hidden behind Buho Cocina y Cantina, the entrance gave off a cool, speakeasy vibe. The space itself is small, but cozy enough to enjoy a romantic date night.

The two friendly female chefs brought a thoughtful, detailed approach to every dish, and the creative flavors in each bite were impressive. There were definitely a few standouts that made us say “mmmm” with a satisfying head nod.

We ended up ordering a few extra items after the course, more uni, buttery salmon, and wagyu, and they didn’t disappoint. We’d love to return, but do wish the location were a bit easier to quickly access, away from the hustle of Waikiki.

It was a last minute girlfriend dinner and honestly I was not expecting much as the Japanese-Mexican omakase theme didn’t really excite me. I hadn’t looked up any reviews so I wasn’t sure what to expect.
The chef personally came out to the bar area at Buho to escort me to the hidden sushi room, which I thought was really sweet. There had been a large, last minute cancellation so it was just my gf, myself, and an older gentleman who was visiting from SF.
I have to say, I thoroughly enjoyed all of the dishes!!! The chef was very sweet and precisely described each dish. The deep-fried amaebi head was really fantastic! So perfectly crispy and not overcooked or oily! We got a second serving at the end because it was THAT good! Great job, Tomo-san (chef’s assistant, who took care of the cooked items)! The deep-fried amaebi head, the uni tostadas, the chawanmushi, and the wagyu taco (we got an extra serving of that, too ) were my FAVES! Will definitely be going back!

This was such a fun and unique omakase — situated as a “speakeasy” within a Mexican nightclub, and with just 8 seats and 2 staff (who are comedians at heart!), it feels like a very premium and personal experience at a reasonable price. It’s clear that the chef has put a lot of thought and care into the menu, infusing subtle yet creative Mexican influences from its “parent” restaurant, with flavors that surprised and delighted with every course. Could not recommend more!

This is an awesome omakase spot under $100. It’s a small spot tucked near the kitchen area of Buho.

I was originally persuaded to make a reservation after reading an article in Frolic…intrigued by their Japanese + Mexican take on omakase. After sitting through 12 courses, I was a bit perplexed because the only Mexican flavor I picked up on was the horchata ice cream at the end. I asked the chef and she explained that they’ve slowly moved away from the Mexican fusion. If you go, don’t except fusion dishes.

Nonetheless the omakase was delicious and everything was well prepared and executed…just wanted to experience something more unique which wasn’t the case.

My favorite dishes were the A5 waygu, chawanmushi, and uni toast…the latter was impeccably created in front of us.

This spot may be hard to find so suggest you take the elevator inside Waikiki Shopping Plaza to the 5th floor or there is a dedicated elevator for Buho on Kalakaua Avenue between Victoria’s Secret and Sephora. When I dined there, they mentioned it was fully booked but two parties didn’t show up…made me wonder if people were confused with how to find the restaurant. Once you get to Buho, check in with the Buho staff/reception stand and they’ll take you to Fukurou.

My husband took me here for my birthday and I loved it! The Mexican flavors were mild so it blended really well with Japanese cuisine. Everything was delicious but my favorite was the chawanmushi with crab. They could also work on the ambiance, it lacks character.

Tucked away within Buho, you’ll find a charming omakase sushi bar that offers a delightful 12-course meal at a very reasonable price. I highly recommend giving it a try! The experience includes a wonderful variety of sushi as well as exquisite wagyu slices, making for an amazing journey from beginning to end. It’s definitely worth exploring for anyone who appreciates quality sushi.
