Friendly’s, at the corner of 22nd St. and Highway 28 in Elwood, IN, is easy to miss, but worth visiting. They open early (5:00 a.m.), and close early (4:00 p.m.!). This is Local Hoosier Diner Central. What the cooks and staff are aiming for, they consistently hit: a simple menu of good affordable reliable staples, served with a smile. I tend to favor the breakfasts. Service can be a little slow, understandably, when they’re busy. There are booths, but some customers prefer the bar-stools. It’s usually certainly not quiet, but that’s part of the charm.

The tenderloins are small thin and tastes like some sort of processed pork. not bad but forgettable. the french fries were not cooked and still cold inside, we ended up throwing those out. normally I take a point off for styrofoam, but don’t want to go any lower.
