This place had the BEST she crab soup, it never disappoints. It had giant chunks of crab and very very consistent. I got the Cuban, which was very very good. They use flat bread instead of a hoagie roll. My wife got their club which uses their own mayonnaise. The server said it was “hot and smokey” VERY good.

This is a lovely downtown restaurant with great food and a warm, cozy vibe. The food is good, wine selection above average, and the service is prompt and friendly. I had the caprese salad with steak tips appetizer as my meal with a really good Cabernet. Perfection.

If I had to be honest I give the atmosphere & service 5 stars but as for the food, I had the fish and chips and to me it would be a little closer to 4 stars. Don’t get me wrong, it was tasty but it wasn’t a ‘5 star dish’. I’m sure this fine establishment has plenty of other 5 star worthy meals but my fish and chips were decent. I wouldn’t go for them again but I would highly recommend everyone going here for lunch or dinner. It was a fine place and I would certainly go back.

Dinner is fantastic here. Lunch is pretty good too. Service is timely and servers are kind. Atmosphere is interesting and good overall. Definitely recommend, particularly for dinner because those dishes are each stand outs.

It was a nice touch the hostess acknowledging my birthday. Our waiter kept rushing us to place our order and hustled us out in 45 minutes. We would have liked to have stayed longer and enjoy the experience but it was clear he wanted to turn over tables. Food was okay. Atmosphere was romantic.

I was running out of ideas where to eat in Norfolk, then I read about this place, decided to pay a visit. First the idea of having a restaurant in a place that was church is fascinating to me. Tall building with beautiful colored windows. Started off with artichoke dip, which came with lots of crispy bread, on a very artistic plate. Dip was thick with fresh vegetables, not heavy and not too saulty. For entree I asked server for recommendation, she helped me out and I decided to try pasta “Smoked Gouda Tenderlion Penne” even though I’m not a big fan of Gouda. Pasta looked very tasty, but I was speechless when I tried it, the SAUCE, is one of THE BEST I’ve ever tried in my life. The smokey, saulty, creamy kick this pasta had is out of this world, what most amazed me is it’s consistency, every single penne had even amount of sauce and taste. I couldn’t care less for meat, how good sauce and veggies were. I was kind of full when I started eating pasta, because I ate whole artichoke dip by myself. I just couldn’t resist and didn’t want to stop. I believe other things on menu are as incredible as this one. “Seafood fantasia” was also great choice. Need to come back to this church! Huge recommendation!

My husband and I had the day off. We had some business to take care of downtown & while we were there, we decided to get lunch. We saw Freemason Abbey and decided to go. Parking was easy and right there on the property. The host was friendly. We asked to sit in the bar area & she walked us in & gave us a menu. It was warm and comfortable there. Kelly, our bartender introduced herself. We felt comfortable right away. She was a “breath of fresh air.” She knew the menu, shared with us her favorites, and told us it was no problem if we wanted to omit an item (mushrooms) from a dish. We ordered artichoke dip with bacon, it was so good,we decided to share our entrees,my hubby got Asiago Chicken and I got ribs. Both meals were 100% delicious! We also had some very good signiture drinks & Sangria that was yum. We ate bread pudding & cheesecake for dessert. Everything we ate was grand. It was such a special lunch. Thank you to all the staff.

This place was pretty awesome! We liked the atmosphere and reading about the churches history. There is a cool romantic vibe once you enter. We stopped for lunch and started with a couple cocktails. The hushpuppy’s did not disappoint! The seasoned butter was a great compliment. I enjoyed the famous she-crab soup, it’s luxurious and creamy chowder with chunks of crab. For the main we enjoyed the bang bang shrimp which was crispy and creamy at the same time. The service was friendly and helpful. Everything about the visit was nice and we definitely recommend you stop by.
