Probably an unpopular opinion but I do find Franke’s overrated. Their staff is beyond friendly and welcoming but I think their donuts are mediocre. I have been going there for decades, as they are the only bakery in town. This last visit surprised me and the donuts were much larger and super stuffed with filling. Prices have gone up again since the last time I stopped in but I feel their product matched the increase. Their kolackies are good, but they don’t necessarily stand out to me, and I only get them during Kolacky days for family. It is nice to have an actual bakery in town, I just don’t think it is all people hype it up to be.

Family-run business, friendly and conscientious staff, great service, and the most delicious cookies and kolacky in the world. I’d give Franke’s 15 stars out of 5 if I could. This little bakery and their treats were an important part of my childhood and family celebrations growing up, and I’ve shared their kolacky with friends both near and far away. Such a wonderful place!

Wonderful small town bakery. People drive miles for their Kolaches & other Czech breads & pastries. Last place I know of that they make “mocha cakes” peanut coated cake squares popular in the day of bridge & card parties. Need a 50’s dress and frilly apron to serve them, tho.

Cute small town Bakery with lots of options. We arrived about 10:00 am on a chilly rainy Saturday. Known for its kolotchies, even though they had been busy and some things were empty we still left with a nice variety of goodies. Friendly service.
