FoxFire is a really nice upscale restaurant. They have excellent service, everything is set up nicely with clean silverware and clean plates. They take pride in their cocktails and cooking. The prime rib steak egg rolls are an excellent choice . Also, the Butcher Bites with seared steak pieces cowboy butter on top of creamy Polenta is satisfying.
This is such a great a place to wine and dine or hangout at the bar and enjoy a few cocktails or an Old Fashion with Piggyback bourbon. This place is well worth your time and money. They’re very friendly people with outstanding service.
See you guys soon!

Nice location in the heart of downtown Geneva. You can enter from the front or the rear and the hostess stand is near the middle. Nice outdoor patio area for warmer weather and plenty of seating inside. We were seated in a back side room which was cozy and quiet but service seemed to suffer being seated in there. The food was absolutely fantastic from the appetizer to the main course.
Bang Bang Chicken appetizer was great and I highly recommend adding on a Cesar salad to your entree. For our meals we had the Forager’s Risotto and the Blackened Chicken Alfredo which I subbed Rigatoni noodles for.
It was our first time eating here so I am not sure whether bread and butter is included but the table behind us was offered it and we were not. Water and soft drink glasses were empty for a while before being refilled but we will be back just based off how delicious the food was. Everyone has an off night so we will hope for better service next time.

1st time visitor. Great atmosphere Really enjoyed our food and drinks. New York Strip Steak was the best I ever had! Cooked perfectly! Waiter was very attentive but not over the top and he was easily available. I would suggest if you’re going for a daily special to call and confirm that they are having it, I came specifically for a special I saw on the website and was told that was a previous weeks special. Bummer but not a deal breaker!

We’ve been looking forward for weeks to trying Foxfire after hearing about its high-quality steaks and seafood, not to mention the wonderful warm ambiance and surroundings. The bar and bartender were pretty good — though ingredients for one of the cocktails were out of stock, and 2 of the basil margaritas seemed to have virtually no taste of basil. After finishing our drinks, the host set the 5 of us at a table directly next to a table linen folding station, literally 2 feet away, which was distracting and unacceptable. When I requested a different table, I was informed that we couldn’t move because those had prior “double” reservations. Still not sure what that meant, but we also had reservations for 2 weeks prior, and the entire dining room was nearly empty. It was 4:30 PM. I asked if it’s possible then to reserve a specific table, and she repeated the “double reservation” comment. Makes no sense. We started with calamari and “Nino’s Mexican Shrimp cocktail.” The calamari was soggy with no crispiness whatsoever, apparently it was fried in old oil that was not hot enough. The shrimp, though large, were nothing special — 6 shrimp with a simple dipping sauce, I’ve made better at home. 3 of us ordered the Pittsburgh prime rib eyes, 1 ordered a shrimp dinner, the 5th short ribs. The steaks were nothing short of awful — the worst any of us ever ate. Ordered as medium rare, all 3 were well overdone: tough, oversalted, comprised of 2/3 gristle, with extra rather plain sauces to accompany them. And these were $69 prime steaks — really? That’s close to the cost of a steak at Gibson’s Steakhouse or Ruth’s Chris. Inedible. Any chef would have or should have seen that these steaks were unworthy of serving and should have tossed them before setting them on the grill. The creamed spinach was a small pate of milk with a few spinach leaves floating in it, nothing creamy about it. The fries were cold and tasteless. Our friends rated their meals 2.5/5.0, every one of these steak meals were 0/5. Why did we not just get up and leave? — because our friends and us wanted a happy time together over the holidays and we just didn’t want to go search elsewhere at this point. In hindsight we should have taken our $680 elsewhere.

My better half and I stopped in for a date here last night. I’m REALLY glad we did. Upon walking in we were greeted and helped to a booth in a very timely manner. The staff was polite, attentive, professional and very helpful with suggestions and recommendations. I opted for the “Major Fashioned” – a neat twist on the traditional old fashioned that the owner curated himself. 10/10. We started with the Butcher Bites, and the Prime Rib Egg Rolls, both were absolutely heavenly. The Butcher Bites came with some of the best polenta I’ve ever had, and were cooked to absolute perfection, the cowboy butter is incredibly tasty, and set the stage for how this meal would unfold. The Egg Rolls were so crispy, and packed with flavor, both appetizers went above and beyond. From there, we both enjoyed Caesar salads, both exceeded expectations. We both had filet mignon main dishes and based on how good the Butcher Bites were I opted for the cowboy butter elevation to my steak. I’ve had lots of nice steaks in my time, some from places like Joe’s Prime, Gibson’s, Morton’s, etc. They all tasted great, but nothing came close to this steak. This was no joke, one of the BEST steaks I have ever had the pleasure of enjoying in my entire life. The meat these guys are getting must come from somewhere magical, because it shattered expectations, and left my mouth watering and wanting more. I also want to take a second to acknowledge just how well we were treated during this visit – we never once had to ask for anything. This staff was so attentive it blew our minds. Our water glasses never went below half way, our finished dishes spent almost no time on the table before being cleared away, and the entire time the wait staff was kind, polite, and outright amazing. Our waitress was so helpful with suggestions and pointing us in the right direction, she was funny, respectful, and made the experience all the better. If you can, buy the brigade a beer. They deserve it, after all – this kind of experience is a treat and everyone involved works hard to make it happen. Thank you to everyone here for making our date night such a hit. I would eat here every single night if I could. Hands down, this is the best place to eat in the area – the value is unmatched.
Come here. Eat. Have a cocktail. Enjoy yourself. You’ll be glad you did.

We live in northern cook county but always make a trip to this place to have an amazing meal with friends from Batavia. You want a great location, great food, amazing service and excellent atmosphere then this is your place. Amazing filet cooked to perfection. Garlic mashed potatoes! Prime rib was done just right and the avocado salmon was perfect with risotto. Major old fashion, yes please. Enjoy!

Food:
We started with the calamari, which was expertly cooked—tender with a satisfying crisp. The lemon aioli, though slightly thin, still delivered great flavor. For our entrées, we both opted for steaks, my ribeye prepared Au Poivre and my partner’s NY strip in the Foxfire style. Both were cooked precisely to our requested temperatures. We also indulged in a surf and turf experience—my scallops were perfectly tender with a rich, deep sear, while my partner’s Ahi tuna, though well-seasoned with salt and pepper, would have benefitted from a more pronounced sear.
The sides, unfortunately, fell a bit short. The sautéed spinach was enjoyable but could have used garlic or shallots to elevate its flavor beyond just salt and butter. The sautéed mushrooms were notably bland, lacking seasoning or richness from butter.
For dessert, we were slightly disappointed to find that the carrot cake, listed online, had been replaced with crème brûlée. However, our selections still impressed—my cheesecake was delightfully light, complemented by a sweet raspberry sauce, though I would have preferred more sauce on the cake rather than the plate. My partner’s tiramisu was equally airy yet packed with a bold espresso punch.
The drink selection was another highlight of the evening. We sampled the Flannel Shirt, Major Fashioned, a Moscow Mule, and a Lemon-Blueberry Mojito—all well-crafted and enjoyable.
Service:
Service was outstanding from start to finish. Our water glasses were promptly filled within minutes of being seated, and both drinks and food arrived faster than expected—without ever feeling rushed. Our server, Marcia, was warm, knowledgeable, and attentive, answering all our questions with ease.
Atmosphere:
As expected in a fine dining setting, the ambiance was dim but well-balanced—we had no trouble reading our menus, and the candlelit tables added a cozy touch. Visiting on a weekday, we found the noise level to be a pleasant murmur, creating a lively yet intimate setting. While I don’t recall any background music, the engaging conversation and delicious food kept my focus elsewhere.
Overall, our experience was highly enjoyable, with standout dishes and excellent service. While a few elements could be improved, the quality of the food and atmosphere made for a memorable evening.
