I came here for my birthday with a friend to try their vegan tasting menu. First I want to say how grateful I am that this is an option provided, not many places offer vegan tasting menus. Luckily my friend was able to enjoy the omnivore tasting menu, another thing I am grateful for- that we were not forced to be served the same one. I missed a picture of the first course with pickled vegetables, & I took the picture of my salad course a bit too late. We added the wine pairing & vegan cheese course- another thing that I was so grateful for & our favorite course! My friend is not vegan but we both loved the cashew cheese, it was delicious. The dessert was my second favorite. I ate the entirety of my courses & appreciated the seasonality. I’m mainly happy with the experience overall more than the dishes themselves which I had higher expectations for. I’d like to go back to try their vegan dishes on the regular menu. The seating was very intimate & dim but very close to other tables.

Second time at Forage for the tasting menus.
The two starter/appetizers are very creative, especially the peach one. Each ingredient is flavorful and balanced well together. The main was not that surprising but worth it. It was in large portion and very fulfilling.
We don’t quite enjoy the optional cheese , I would advise to skip it. The dessert is lovely, though the cake is bit similar to the first course.
Overall, the tasting menu is worth the price. The atmosphere is also very comforting, perfect for intimate dining.

Forage may technically sit just outside Boston in the Cambridge suburbs, but it feels like its own quiet world—one rooted in intention, craftsmanship, and deep respect for ingredients.

This is organic, seasonal cooking done beautifully well. The menu is creative and unique, drawing from New England’s small farmers and even the chefs’ own vegetable garden. Every dish feels thoughtful, alive, and grounded in place.

The standout surprise? A vegan charcuterie board so rich, layered, and satisfying it’s almost unbelievable that it’s entirely plant-based. Even devoted carnivores would be impressed. And the halibut cheeks—absolutely unforgettable. Tender and luxurious, they tasted remarkably like lobster, especially paired with sweet potatoes and a medley of distinctive, seasonal vegetables that elevated the entire plate.

Service here is superb. Our waiter was exceptionally knowledgeable about wine, asking the right questions and making a spot-on recommendation that complemented the food perfectly. It felt personal, confident, and genuinely caring—not scripted.

The setting adds to the magic. You enter through a small, understated door that leads down into a basement-style dining room—but instead of feeling cramped, the space opens into something warm, elegant, and quietly high-end. Intimate without being tight. Classy without being pretentious.

Forage isn’t just a meal—it’s an experience you remember. Thoughtful food, impeccable service, and a sense that everything on the plate has a story. A true destination for anyone who loves inspired, conscious dining. ✨

Came here for one of their prefix wine dinners as a celebration. It was four courses paired with four types of wine, when ch is very reasonable with today’s prices. The food felt like farm to table. We could just taste the freshness of the ingredients. The chef melded many different flavors together very well and each dish was distinct. We definitely walked away with full bellies and had many flavorful wines we otherwise would not have had the chance to try. Would recommend!

Forage is a small farm-to-table spot tucked under an old Cambridge building and it’s genuinely unique. We started with house pickles and ferments like spruce tips, celery leaves, baby green tomatoes, and kimchi. We did the pescavore and vegetarian tastings: standouts were the toasted hazelnut-pear salad, Brussels sprouts with maple, orange zest, Camembert and walnuts, salmon with smoked-trout cornbread, and a comforting oat-groat risotto. Dessert was a blonde with kumquat and macerated cranberries. Our server, Ash, was generous and knowledgeable, poured smart wine tastes, and even let us try savory and sweet hemlock pods. Thoughtful and delicious food, lovely people, and a reservation we were surprised to snag.

My friend was able to have the omnivore tasting menu, which was also nice because we didn’t have to both do the same option. We added the wine pairing and the vegan cheese course, and that ended up being our favorite part of the meal. Even though my friend isn’t vegan, we both loved the cashew cheese — it was honestly delicious. Dessert was probably my second favorite course.

I finished every course and appreciated the seasonal approach to the menu. Overall, I was happier with the experience as a whole than with the individual dishes, since I did go in with slightly higher expectations for the food itself. The space felt intimate and dimly lit, which created a nice atmosphere, although the tables were a bit close together. I’d still love to come back and try more of their vegan options from the regular menu.

Such an inviting, cozy spot with incredible food and service. We did the tasting menu and got to experience a diverse array of delicious dishes. More reasonably priced than a lot of tasting menus in this area and 100% worth it! Great wine selection too.

My friend and I had the vegan tasting menu and enjoyed the food. The ingredients were of good quality and the dishes were creative. The cocktails were delicious, as well. The server was very friendly and accommodating. The staff came to clarify my dietary restrictions, which I greatly appreciated. It was a little too chilly in the restaurant (super cold outside, so understandable), but otherwise nice atmosphere.

They had one vegan dessert, but it would be neat if they added a second one.

Quirky restaurant with a quirky staff (good things!) and tasty food.
I did the non-alcoholic drink pairing. Very creative and highly commended.
I did the Omnivore tasting menu which consisted of three vegetarian dishes and one meat course. Vegetarian dishes are very simple, but very fresh are tasty with nice textures
The meat course was also very simple but well cooked and was tasty.
The dessert was awesome.
A bit on the expensive side for what you get, but everything is tasty and creative so I will certainly come again soon

The meal started well. The opening pickled bites were interesting, and the potato–mushroom dish was a standout: simple, well cooked, and flavorful. The salad was fine but very basic.

The main course, however, was deeply disappointing. The omnivore tasting menu’s entrée was essentially a deconstructed taco—hanger steak, tortilla, rice, and a vegetable. While the components were cooked properly, the dish lacked depth, acidity/ brightness, and any sense of creativity. The flavors were flat, which was especially shocking given the price point. My friend’s vegetarian tasting menu was the same as mine, but included a spanakopita main course that was tasty but didn’t feel like a $40–50 entrée.

Dessert was the highlight. The chocolate molten cake with sorbet was excellent, and the mocktail was well done.

Overall, this visit felt disappointing for the cost. While I respect Forage’s commitment to local ingredients this menu felt very limited and didn’t deliver the value or creativity I expected.
