A new favorite happy hour spot in the Waldo/Brookside area of Kansas City: Flying Horse Taproom. This spot offers happy hour Tuesday through Thursday from 4-6PM, 12-6PM on Friday, & all day Sunday! I ordered $5 Wells and the $6 Pepperoni Flatbread for my happy hour options.

My friends and I met at Flying Horse Tavern for a late lunch this past Sunday, and had a MARVELOUS time! Stu was our bartender and server, and was absolutely fabulous. His command of the bar menu was superb; he could talk intelligently about any beer, hard cider or wine. He gave us excellent recommendations about food menu options as well. We had a group of 8, and he was consistently attentive, patient as we deliberated over our choices, and friendly. Service with a smile!

Great draft list, tasty flatbreads and sandwiches. Service can be hit or miss but they have been short-staffed, so I give them grace. We always sit at the bar, if available. The owners are most delightful and know us by name. Stu, the GM is also terrific!

Flatbread was really good. Had a great beer selection. I was a little put out by the service. I tried 3 times to get a second beer, and the server tried to school me on how to request. As I said, “Please, can I get a refill?” He just took it as I was holding up my glass and being rude. First rule of service… Don’t assume, jump to a conclusion, and be rude to a customer.

The two stout beer variations taste great, chicken wings are also good, other beers aren’t that good, but worth it to try.

Mediocre at best. The tots were fine. Service is disjointed, a joke.

This place is fairly new and this was my first visit to the Flying Horse Taproom. It is a cozy place with an outside patio for nice weather. On a Thursday afternoon, there were a few customers around. Service was excellent and quick. Prices are reasonable and drink selection was good. Happy hour included food specials and drink specials. They also had many TV’s if you are looking to watch a game (no sound though). Would definitely visit again.

Found this place by driving by on chance. Good amount of space with a cute patio, but parking is limited for the area of town, not much of a surprise. Decent drink selection and they only serve flatbreads. All of them looked really good but went with a more adventurous one, the Nduja pizza. Wasn’t bad, and would love to come back and try the others.
