We used to frequently order take out from Flipping Wings but hadn’t been back in several months. The quality has gone down significantly. The fries tasted like they had been sitting out, the wings were not crispy like they used to be, and the sanitation rating was an 85…. Had I seen the sanitation rating prior to paying, I would have walked out. The food was gross and the recent low rated reviews are very accurate. We used to recommend Flipping Wings constantly, but that will not be the case moving forward. We will not return. Hate to see it, we always try to support small/local businesses.

As a self-proclaimed chicken wing connoisseur, I can confidently say that Flipping Wings food truck is the absolute gold standard! Their wings are exactly what wing lovers dream about – big, hearty, and cooked to absolute perfection.

What truly sets Flipping Wings apart is their incredible lineup of unique sauces. My latest visit featured their Fire wings (delivering serious heat without sacrificing flavor) and their Stinger wings (that perfect sweet-spicy balance that’s absolutely addictive). Each sauce has its own distinct personality that you simply won’t find anywhere else.

The service deserves special mention – the staff is friendly, efficient, and clearly passionate about what they do. They remember regulars and take the time to make recommendations based on your preferences.

I’ve tried countless wing spots across town, but Flipping Wings has consistently proven to be my go-to, never disappointing no matter how many times I return. For anyone serious about chicken wings, this food truck is an absolute must-visit experience!

When I first moved to Clayton, North Carolina, finding a solid wing spot was a challenge. I would always pass by Flippin’ Wings, but for some reason, I never went in. It wasn’t until I started visiting the barbershop next door that curiosity finally got the best of me. One day, I decided to give it a shot—and wow, I was blown away. The wings were amazing, flavorful, and cooked to perfection, and the staff was just as great.

Fast forward a couple of years—new management, new employees—and unfortunately, that’s when things started to decline. The food lost its spark, and I ended up taking a break from the place for about a year. But then, I heard they made some changes to the staff, so I waited a little longer before giving it another shot.

Recently, I finally went back, and let me tell you—it’s back to the way it was when I first fell in love with it. In fact, I’ve already been three times in the past week! The wings are back to being flavorful and perfectly cooked, the staff is super polite and friendly, and overall, the experience is just as great as I remember.

If you’ve had a bad experience in the past, I highly recommend giving them another shot. One visit shouldn’t define a place forever—especially when they’ve worked hard to make improvements.

The pictures below feature their Mango Habanero and Old Bay (dry rub) wings, along with chili cheese fries—which are absolutely amazing. The seasoning on the fries? Top-tier.

So, if you’re in Clayton and looking for some fire wings, head back to Flippin’ Wings—you won’t regret it!

The good:
I enjoyed the flavor of the mango habenero, the lemon pepper dry rubs and their ranch dressing it great.

The bad:
First they had run out of napkins we were told we could get paper towel from the bathroom. Not the best solution for cleaning up after wings.
Our wings were under cooked and the young lady at the counter said they’ve had complaints about that before she did offer to cook some more for us but by that time we were done.

We recently tried Flippin Wings for the first time and will certainly not be back. I typically never leave reviews, however I feel that this is warranted. I called in an order and asked for the wings to be extra, extra, extra crispy times 4. Not only was there zero crisp, the inside of many of the wings was not cooked all the way through. They told me to pick the order up in 25 minutes. Good thing I got there within 10 assuming I would just wait. Because they were already done. Yet, still not even warm. Very disappointing. Check your wings before you leave with your food, I wish we would have. Chicken should be cooked throughout, especially seeing as this is what they specialize in.

Edit: lol read owners response. As an owner, THAT’S the response. You can’t make this stuff up.

I would give zero stars if I could. Worst place ever to get wings. And don’t even think about getting their House Rub – it’s EXTREMELY salty. Taste like they dumped a pound of salt on the fries AND wings. I wont ever order from here again.

The food was horrible. The wings were not cooked all the way and I don’t know what that was but it was not any kind of sauce was very very watery and no flavor. The French fries tasted sweet and were not crispy and was not fully cooked either. I had to put the wings in the oven to finish cooking them and use sauce I had at home. This is my first and last time going here.

Messy but Delicious. The wings are large and cooked to order so there is a wait time but trust me it’s worth it. I ordered the kickin garlic and barely got through half of them before being filled. The blue cheese is made in house and it too is delicious I highly recommend Flippin Wings. I’ll be back to try a chicken sandwich next time and you can choose you sauce flavor!!

The garlic parmesan was probably the best garlic parm wings I have ever had. I asked to be double fried and they weren’t as crispy as I like. They seemed to be more like jumbo wings instead of regular wings.

I ordered lemon pepper wings at 830, I know they close at 9.

I smelled the burnt grease when I walked in. I wanted to give them a chance.

Got my food, burnt, grease was over cooked, no lemon pepper taste AT ALL!

I came for a lemon pepper wings craving. I had a potluck at work and was going to put an order in for wings .

I wanted to try them out 1st, then put a catering order in.

Nope! Going somewhere else!!
