The restaurant is on a bustling street in Milpitas and draws crowd that intends to enjoy this cuisine especially the jowar flat breakfast and stuffed eggplant. Which also reflects in the name of the place. Rotti Ennegai.
The restaurant offers a good spread of options for food choices but the highlight in the Bijapur Thali that comes with Jowar flat bread stuffed eggplant curry and a very regional sweet dessert which is made of over night soaked wheat and slow cooked with organic sweetener and select spices and nuts.
Now let’s move on to the food.
The rotti is well made soft and served hot. The ennagai is also very good but the quantity served is way tooo little to eat up with 2 pieces of rotti.
The dal is not at all good, the thali also comes with a bowl of white rice and the best thing about this rice is that there is NO baking soda unlike other Indian restaurants which is amazing, a bit disappointed with the sambar for rice, because traditionally there is no concept of sambar in north Karnataka it’s always dal stew. Which is different from sambar in terms flavour and taste.
So over all a pleasant experience if you are from this region you can kinda feel the connect.
Tried gobi manchurian, masala puri, and masala dosa—everything tasted delicious. The ambience was lovely, and the hospitality was great. Highly recommend and definitely a must-try. Definitely coming back to try more dishes.
Will definitely be back here and so happy to see restaurants opening up that serve authentic Karnataka food. Keep it going!
Their jowar rotti curry is exceptional — soft, fresh, and perfectly paired with rich, flavorful aubergine and lentil curries that have just the right balance of spices. It’s a dish that stands out for its authenticity and taste. The goli bajji is equally impressive — crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and incredibly addictive.
What I loved most is how the food feels both wholesome and flavorful, without being overly heavy. The quality, taste, and authenticity make Rotti Engai a standout spot for anyone craving traditional North Karnataka food.
Highly recommended for anyone who appreciates simple, delicious, and authentic regional cuisine.
