For years I’ve avoided this place despite the fact I live only a few blocks from the restaurant. I thought this was a hoity toity establishment with overpriced food. Boy was I wrong!! First of all, the service is warm and friendly, the atmosphere is chill and laid back and best of all the food is excellent and well worth every penny. My friend and I went here for happy hour (by now we’ve tried half a dozen places for happy hour). I had the pasta of the day which was pork shank sauce with bespoke pasta. It was soooooo good with plenty of meat and a thick unctuous sauce. At $13 it was such a good value. If I had to find a flaw it would be that since the pasta was folded into a cannoli shape, the center part with multiple layers was a bit more al dente than I like but that’s a minor quibble. Overall it had an excellent flavor with a generous portion.

We were here on a rainy Sunday and it was pretty dead. They have a family meal special on Sunday: two salads, roasted brussel sprouts, and two 12” pizzas for $50. We did the Italiano and Fennel Sausage pizzas. Both salads came with a creamy dressing. It would have been nice to have two different kind of dressings like an oil based one to mix it up. They forgot to put the olives on our pizza, which we had to point out, and so got them on the side afterwards. Everything tasted pretty good. I really enjoyed the Italian style pizza crust and the brussel sprouts still had a crunch.

You know it’s going to be fun when the bartender is fabulous! Shout out the JR as he is the vibe of the whole restaurant and bar. Seating at the bar is fun with great service! He has his own drink: The Red Lotus! Don’t miss it! Food is great with a good happy hour menu. Parking is easy and during the summer great outdoor seating options. On Monday they have a 3 course Italian dinner and on Tuesday’s a 3 course “supply chain” dinner which changes every week! If you haven’t been here GO! We had a great time and will go back soon.

The 503 is amazing! We went on a Wednesday night and it wasn’t too busy, so our service was great! We talked with the server, and the chef, who is also the owner. Both were very friendly and proud of what they have. And they should be! The food was so good! All of the dishes were creative, and several of them we were trying to figure out the ingredients because they were so curious and delicious we wanted to re-create them. However, when we asked Johnny, the chef, he was happy to share, what he uses in the food, stating that we couldn’t re-create it the way he does it anyways. It’s true! He really does a phenomenal job!

I have been coming here since their inception, and Johnny is the new owner/chef. There certainly has been difficulty with the transition but I think he is doing the best he can. I had an excellent bib salad tonight and a hamburger, medium rare, was also excellent. Last week I had an abysmal service with forgotten entree, but can see the potential potential from tonight. Let’s not give up on this place, it has great potential as it always has, and The owner Johnny is doing his best. The major problem for my perspective is hiring good service people, and he does seem to be making inroads into that area. we need a really good local restaurant, and I think he will pull it off! I am hoping they will return the mac & cheese.

This place used to be much nicer but as of now it’s a mediocre restaurant trying to charge Ritz Carlton prices. The service is Mediocre, the food is actually quite good but WAY over priced. The final nail in the coffin was the $50 per head mother’s day brunch which was mediocre at best. Cold food. Burnt potatoes. Overly salty. This was a $25 buffet at best. Service was also mediocre. I’m done trying to give this place chances.

Where the service lacks, the kitchen more than compensates. Very talented and very impressive. I could have eaten the fresh corn soup with a straw then ask for more. The heirloom salad is an experience. My husband’s steak was cooked to perfection as was everything else. Will be back.

I’ll grant them that they only had 1 waitress and it was getting busy. The calamari was excellent. We have two small children and ordered the buttered noodles which the kids devoured however they didn’t have drink options that were friendly for children (I would recommend bringing your own sippy cups since they didn’t have lids)

As I write this, I am still in disbelief.. So, we are local, and have been to this place three or so times. Every single time I’m there, I say I will never come back.. yesterday, we walked down and asked for a table of 3. But before I could even ask for a table the waiter didn’t hold the door for me and let it close on my face. So I was a little put off, but decided it was a nice evening, why not one more try? We did not have reservations, but they had “open seats for tables of 2”.. really? They are all square tables. If you can fit two chairs, you can fit four. I don’t understand why in the world a restaurant would want open tables when you could have easily made $200 on our table alone last night.. and you let us walk. Not to mention the place was empty on the inside, and people sit outside listening to music for hours. How is this a plausible business plan? Unfortunately, we live within walking distance, and will never be back. Go to Willamette for better experiences. Or LO. They think in terms of good service, and making money. This place isn’t going to make it banking on “40 people” the entire night. Ridiculous.
