This place is 10/10. The service is friendly and prompt. The food is delicious. Ordered the mussels, octopus and oysters. The waiter offered suggesting for pairing the wine. Had some wine from Serbia. The atmosphere is lively. Snag a reservation and definitely make your way here.

We have a rule when traveling and that is to only eat at a restaurant once. We broke that rule with Fiskbar 17 and ate here two nights in a row. The place has a relaxed, modern feel, does not feel touristy, and the staff made us feel welcome right away.
We had the catch-of-the-day which was cooked and seasoned perfectly. And the seafood Bouillabaisse, fantastic! The next evening, we tried the shrimp sandwich—a Swedish classic—and it was outstanding. The shrimp were sweet and plentiful, piled high on toasted bread with just the right balance of creaminess and freshness. My wife and I both got the small one. Prices felt fair for the quality. It’s not a budget spot, but it doesn’t feel over the top either—you get exactly what you’re paying for: top-quality seafood prepared with care. Fiskbar 17 struck the perfect balance of great food, friendly service, and a comfortable atmosphere. If you’re in Gothenburg and love seafood, I’d say it’s a must-visit.

Ate here this week as a table for 1 walk in. Had a great experience, in no small part down to Albaro the waiter who was awesome – super funny, great service and wine recommendations to go with the lovely food. Found this place walking by which seemed nice, had no trouble getting a table although restaurant was pretty full. Started with Ceviche which was served with dried sweet potato- extremely tasty. For the mains we ordered the fish soup and catch of the day. The soup was very delicious and cozy for the cool outside, definitely recommended. Nevertheless, the Cod that was served to us stole the show. Served with wine-butter emulsion and potato mash. I didn’t know Cod can get this good. The staff was also very friendly which made the experience more enjoyable. Go eat there.

Would give this review more than 5 stars if I could. The food (we had shrimp sandwiches which some locals told us are the best in Gothenburg) was absolutely delicious but the stand out feature was the hospitality with a capital HOSPITALITY! For a couple of Aussies a long way from home, we were made to feel welcome from the minute we arrived. Thank you Frederico and Álvaro for giving us such a fun night. Loved the music too. Shame you’re closed tonight…enjoy your well earned break.

We had a great meal here—the food was absolutely delicious and clearly made with care. The place is always busy, which is a good sign, and we were glad we booked a table in advance.
That said, the space is quite limited. The tables are very close together, so it can feel a bit cramped, and it gets quite noisy, especially if neighboring tables are a bit too enthusiastic with their conversations. It’s not the best spot for a quiet dinner, but if you’re coming for great food and a lively atmosphere, it’s definitely worth a visit.
