My wife and I were here in March to celebrate our anniversary. We got married at the hotel and were really looking forward to dinner. My wife ordered the fish and chips and the fish smelled foul – not fishy but foul. I ordered chicken and wild rice. The rice was not hot. One piece of chicken was browned and hot, the other had not been reheated and the skin was soft and uncooked. I told the waitress we were unsatisfied. We had a voucher from the hotel for dinner – they would not accept this as full payment, charging me the full cost for both meals beyond the coupon. The manager told me that my food was not cold; she was sure because she brought it to me. Very disappointed. We won’t be going back.

Unfortunately we did not have a great experience for our 40th anniversary dinner with two friends. My order was wrong. I ordered the Salmon. Fish and chips was delivered. I told the staff member that delivered it. She told the waitress. The waitress said they could fixed it. But I would obviously wait for that to be cooked. I chose to accept what was delivered. No reimbursement was made. Small portion for the price. Not sure if you normally have rolls or bread delivered. We chose you because we were at a 50th wedding anniversary last summer and really liked it. Totally different I guess. Anyway no hard feelings.

Chowder was exquisite! Ceaser salad was above average. Pork shank was pretty good but not enough polenta. Love the atmosphere would love to go back however the service at the bar was so bad I’m not sure if I could ever go back knowing I have to constantly wave my arm or whatever just to get the server’s attention as if I’m even lucky to get get served at all!

We were quite disappointed in the quality of the food. We have been frequent guests over the last 15 years and we’ve experienced many chef changes. The prices are up and the quality has gone south. We’ve tried several of the new items on the menu. The falafel burger, for instance, was a disaster. The bread was firm, the falafel was gooey, and it was impossible to each without the falafel pouring out the sides and all over my hand. The taste was bland and the recipe was peculiar. I can’t imagine anyone enjoying it.

Me and my wife and two of our friends recently eight here and enjoyed our visit immensely. The food was absolutely amazing what is even better is that Tracy our waitress took very good care of us even though we knew she was understaffed and overwhelmed…She didn’t complain whatsoever and did not make one single mistake with the multiple drinks appetizers and main courses for four people. We will certainly be back and we will tell all of our friends as well as we are regulars to visit our children at the Academy

For anyone traveling to New England, it is worth visiting the little town of Exeter and stop by Epoch Restaurant. I tried the Fried Green Tomatoes and Short Rib Cavetelli, ending with the Apple Cobler. Great atmosphere, great food, great service.

The pros…. The food is really good and the pricing on point. The Cons… We were at the bar and the service was terrible on a Friday night. Long waits and uninterested bartenders…. UPDATE! Went back on a weds night… the bartender was terrible. Attitude and rudeness is not how u tend bar
