It was my first time eating Ethiopian food. My friends and I did not know to order but they just brought this amazing platter with beef, lamb, chicken, spinach along with three different kinds of cooked and smashed beans. You get to use flour based thin and soft wraps to eat the food with your fingers. I would totally go back there. The servers were very kind and attentive to customers’ needs.

Enatye Ethiopian Restaurant at 275 Sunset Park Dr, Herndon, VA 20170

Quick review and then into the details: I picked the eight combo vegetarian. I got this delivered it was fresh and the taste was perfect. Definitely if you were looking for premium Ethiopian food to go. This is your go to restaurant this area location. The spice seasoning and the oils were definitely on point. A very enjoyable experience I am very happy that I was able to find this location by Uber eats. Now to the details on how I got it to my location.

I’m in town visiting and was taking an Uber ride from Reagan airport towards this restaurant. Where my hotel is close by at the time. Uber allows you to order the food and have it delivered as you’re coming to your destination. This glorious place was on the list. I placed the order as I was probably about 30 minutes out for my hotel. You can see when the delivery driver gets to the restaurant and picks it up watch them bring it to your location all on the Uber app. This food feels fresh as me waiting there and picking it up myself. This was an excellent idea to join and team up with Uber Eats to make this experience even better. Top quality food with top quality delivery. You know you can’t beat that.

Enatye is a true hidden gem, tucked away in the back of an industrial park. You’d never know it was there unless someone told you–or you were actively hunting for Ethiopian food.

At first glance, I wasn’t impressed ( yeah yeah judging a book by its cover… I know better)

I was wrong.

The food was very flavorful, generous, and downright satisfying. We started with the sambusas (meat and veggie). They were good, though a bit mild–personally, I still give the edge to an Indian samosa, but that’s just me.

The combo is absolutely the move. We shared a three-person platter with lamb, beef, and chicken tibs, plus a variety of vegetarian dishes (see photos). Everything came served on rolls of injera–the spongy Ethiopian flatbread.

This is a hands-on meal. As in, you eat with your fingers. Yes… it was glorious.

The presentation is classic Ethiopian style: a large platter lined with injera, topped with meats and vegetables spread out like they’re feeding 50 million people. The trick is to tear off the injera under the food–not the extra rolls–because it soaks up all that flavorful gravy. It’s harder than it sounds, but totally worth it.

The main dishes were very flavorful.
I was genuinely impressed by both the quantity and the depth of flavor across the entire meal.

These are the happy surprises I live for.

Highly recommend giving it a try.

We have been to the other Ethiopian restaurant in the same block a few times and did not notice this one until one day we drove around the block accidentally and decided to give it a shot. We were so glad we did. The food was delicious and we almost liked all dishes. We had sautéed beef, lamb and beef stew, and fish and vegetables. The white fish was a huge surprise as we have been eating at least a dozen Ethiopian restaurants and never had fish dish and not to say so delicious.
The owner was a fun and interesting character, he ordered for us and told us it to order more bread which turned out to be a wise decision. The portion is generous and price is more than reasonable.

Enatye in Herndon is a gem for anyone who loves flavorful Ethiopian cuisine. We went there with my Indian parents, and even they absolutely loved it! The food is rich and a bit oily, but that’s exactly where the amazing taste comes from.

If you’re a meat lover or even enjoy vegetables, you’ll find plenty to enjoy here. Their smooth, soft Ethiopian bread (injera) was a highlight — perfect for scooping up the delicious stews and dishes. Definitely a spot to try if you’re looking for hearty, flavorful meals in Herndon.

I drive from DC to eat here. I’ve tried other spots in VA and DC, and no where has come close to Enatye. Generous portions, reasonable prices, and the staff is amazing and attentive. The medium spice combo platter with chicken, lamb, and beef is the perfect introduction for anyone who wants to try Ethiopian food.
