Elk Grove – Lou Malnati’s Pizzeria

  4.5 – 3 reviews  $$ • Pizza Takeout

About Lou Malnati’s Pizzeria Considered the oldest family name in Chicago pizza, Lou Malnati’s is as rich in history as its pizza is in flavor. Lou Malnati got his start in the 1940’s working in Chicago’s first deep dish pizzeria. He took his pizza expertise to Lincolnwood, a northern suburb of Chicago, where he and his wife Jean opened the first Lou Malnati’s Pizzeria on March 17, 1971. Lou was known for his fun-loving character as well as making Chicago’s best pizza. Loyal patrons lined the streets on opening day for a taste of his delicious deep dish creations. Lou always thought it was funny that an Italian should open a pizzeria in a Jewish neighborhood on an Irish holiday.

Family-owned local chain for Italian classics & Chicago-style, deep-dish pizzas with buttery crusts.

It was my first time visiting the Chicago area, and deep dish pizza was on the wish list. LM was recommended by locals and visitors, so we popped in to try. It was late, and we felt bad for showing up 40 minutes before closing time, however, our server was very polite and understanding. We were served surprisingly quick, and the pizza did not disappoint. That buttery crust was mind blowing. Absolutely loved it. Can’t wait to visit again.

First time at this Lou malnatis. It was a great surprise. They have various sections of the restaurant that make it easy to feel secluded and have your own space. The service was lovely and the food was delicious. Our pizza was closer to room temperature than melting cheese hot. The restaurant was really clean with not a crumb in sight.

Great stuff. Deep dish pizza. Arguably the best deep dish in Chicago. Service was great. However u need to wait a while for your deep dish pizza. Average about 45 mins. So if u are hungry, then order an appetiser. Beer selection wasn’t bad

5 stars all around! My wife and I were in town for the National Sports card collector’s convention and were super hungry after walking around all day. We decided on Malnati’s, and the whole experience was excellent! We had the Malnati Chicago Classic, the Caesar salad, and the chocolate explosion cake. The atmosphere was great and the staff were very inviting, friendly, and hustling! This location also has a full bar. We had about a 40 minute wait for a table, but they let us pre-order our pizza while we waited.

Lived in Chicago for about a year, and 5 years later I’m driving through for work. Decided to get good Chicago style pizza again, and this did not deliver. Service was good, pizza was ready on time, could have been hotter. I got The Lou to go, and it was so wet it leaked through the box onto my car seat. And honestly for being their signature pizza, it was just…ok. For the same price, I could have gotten Giordano’s and it would have been a lot better. For half the price, I feel like I could have gotten at least as good at Marco’s.

Always a classic, even after many years and many remodels. Our server has been there for 40 years, I remember her from when I was a kid! Still hands-down best Chicago-style deep dish.

The best of the best, standard bearer of Chicago style, G.O.A.T. deep dish, many replicate but no one is even close. Thanks Lou’s once again for being awesome.

We had a birthday party for my mother-in-law. Our server was efficient and friendly and my mil loved it. Lou’s pizza tastes like Pizza Hut pan pizza from the 80s so if you like that, you’ll probably like it. It’s definitely not what it used to be. I don’t really care if I have it again
