My wife and I ate lunch at El Toro Mexican Grill in Cornelius, today. We have discovered a very good place to get Mexican food. We both lived in Dallas, Texas for over 25 years so a good Mexican restaurant in the area is a priority to us.
Many restaurants are closed on Tuesdays but they were open.
We both started with a margarita and they make a good one. Not too sweet, a bit tart, and very drinkable.
Their chips and salsa are very good! We ordered some queso (white cheese served warm) and poured some salsa in the queso to dip the chips in. An excellent option….recommended.
For our entree, we requested chicken and steak fajitas with flour tortillas. The order (for two) was a heaping plate of delicious chicken, steak, peppers, and onions. We both had separate plates with guacamole, sour cream, refried beans, and rice. The tortillas were loaded up with everything described and they were delicious. We had a good portion to take home, too.
We both recommend El Toro Mexican Grill in Cornelius, NC.

After driving around and trying to figure out what to do for dinner, we decided to try something different and came across this establishment. It looked fun and festive, and before arriving to the door, the smells from the kitchen was amazing.
We were greeted and seated quickly and everything was going great. We noticed how the waiter Juan only took our order and gave us our check. He didn’t check on us, but we noticed how he treated other tables, having conversation, high-fiving some, ensuring they had what they needed, but never asked us if we needed anything. Food was decent, but the experience was garbage. When he finally realized we wanted the check, he threw it on the table and kept walking. Instead of saying anything, we paid, he picked it up, and did it again. We won’t return and felt disrespected, as I can tell who he was more attentive to.

My dish was not very appetizing. The shredded lettuce was watery and had a warped texture. The cheese sauce was bland. The beef lacked flavor, and the chicken was dry. I gave this Restaurant a three-star rating only because the chips and the salsa sauce were delicious.

There fish tacos add pineapple is the absolute best. There tres leches is lite, healthier then most – it’s just right for me. This is my little hidden gem, and after work spot. Definitely if you’re ever in North Charlotte or near Birkdale – I think you should try it out 🙂

Very good fajitas, good meat to veg ratio. Delicious chips and salsa. The service was a little slow with not very many customers. Plenty of staff, they just looked preoccupied with each other. Not one to complain but it just stood out. Would recommend and come back
