We have had sushi all over the world. This was neither authentic nor a well thought out fusion. We were the only ones for lunch and decided to order the firecracker jalapeno appetizer, the tuna and salmon nigiri and a couple of their rolls. The jalapeno appetizer was pretty good but the jalapenos tasted more like bell peppers. The nigiri was inedible and the server took it right back. The rice on the nigiri was cold, dry and flavorless. The raw fish was bottom of the barrel quality. For some reason the nigiri was served with lemon wedges? Raw fish and citric acid don’t mix for a reason, it’s overpowering and turns the raw fish a nasty color. The rolls were all beautiful but cold and over-sauced. The reason for the sauces became apparent when we tasted the subpar fish in the rolls. The tempora roll was ice cold. The fried onions were also very hard and cold. We found more lemon under the fried onions and the seeds had not even been removed. Due to the sauces and garnish we were able to eat the rolls but were not impressed. The spicy mango roll was pretty good, but it was more dessert than sushi. The server refused to let us pay after we told him and he tried very hard to stand up for the restaurant. Hopefully we just had bad luck but there are better and cheaper sushi options in the local area. If they ever switch fish suppliers and use warm, fresh, and properly seasoned sushi rice I bet this place would be amazing!

Food was amazing!!! My favorite sushi spot so far everything was made fresh. Ordered to go and it was still warm and crunchy due to it being fried, was not soggy and cold like most places. Definitely will order again.

The main El Tataki place in Avondale i love but this one i didn’t really like. Maybe it was because we got to go, but anyway, i didn’t really enjoy the sushi here though. I would give it a try again & eat there instead of take out to see if it makes a difference. Food came out fairly quick

When arriving to the restaurant there’s a nice ambience inside with an adequate amount of seating for it being a Tataki express. There was only one table seated and already eating their meal. I placed an order for two spicy salmon rolls from the traditional side of their menu. My two rolls took a a while to be brought to my table. When the roles were brought to me I noticed that one was a spicy salmon roll and the other one was a tuna roll. At this point the cashier notices that I am looking at my sushi strangely and asked if one of them was different which it was. At this point after touching the sushi roll they took back the order to the sushi counter. A few minutes later my other spicy salmon was brought to me. When looking at my now complete order I noticed that the sushi rolls were completely squished and we’re almost at the shape of triangles instead of the traditional circular form. The taste of the sushi was nothing to write home about as I can only compare it to meeting the standard of your typical grocery store sushi bar. Unfortunately it will be a while before I give this restaurant another chance and I am unable to recommend it to others.

Was so glad when they opened this branch; I love this place but I don’t want to have to drive all the way to Avondale to eat their food. I always get their rolls and they never disappoint. Recommend the Volcano and the Lotus Roll. Edamame is good too.

If I had to choose between Ra and El Tataki, I would travel 35 mins to El Tataki and enjoy there Sushi .It would be Awesome if they put an El Tataki in North Phoenix or Paradise Valley.

The chicken teriyaki was not good at all. There was almost no chicken and it randomly came with a bunch of uncooked slivered carrots for some reason lol.
