Wow!! Great job with the paint job separating the hotel from the restaurant! The moment you open the doors you are greeted with smiles from all the staff. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming it instantly sets you up for a good time. Great environment! The freshest of chips and salsa were delivered immediately to our table while we went over the menu. Our server was attentive and knowledgeable with a great attitude. Had fun chit chatting about her transferring from the Goshen restaurant to here in Elkhart and we are so grateful she did! It wasn’t a long wait until our food was brought out and it was perfection. Thanks to Rafael for being so kind and helping us get menus for the residents where we work and for answering all of our questions! Thanks to all of the employees for making it such a memorable first time dining! Highly recommend El Rancho Viejo!

Excellent Mexican food. We had the taco and enchilada combo, Quesobirrias, and the Grande Burrito Loco. All were excellent. Food came out super quick and was delicious. Our server was amazing, but she was unable to come back to the table and refill drinks because she seemed to be handling most of the tables even though there were several servers. She was very sweet and apologetic. We would definitely return.

Exceptional staff, nice atmosphere, good food. My wife and I stopped in for lunch to check this new place out. Outstanding decor and super pleasant server. Salsa is smooth and tasty, chips were a bit greasy tasting and needed salt though certainly not a deal breaker. She had the #1 lunch special (Chili Relleno, taco and guacamole salad) Chili Relleno does not come with red sauce but server brought her some red enchilada sauce…..good but spicy…..and some green enchilada sauce…..very good and milder. Guacamole was delicious and appeared freshly made.

I got the chicken chimichanga dinner for pickup and it definitely wasn’t the best ever, it was not very crisp but I won’t hold that against it. There could have been more cheese definitely but the biggest issue was the lettuce. The lettuce came in a separate container, I went to pour it in and out came like a cup of water. Maybe I’m just out of the loop but I’ve never had lettuce delivered to me sitting in that much water. That kinda ruined one of the chimichangas. Overall not the best I’ve ever had and also not the worst.

The restaurant itself is nice. It’s been remodeled but it does still have this old hotel smell within which May or may not be for you. The food is average and the service was good. The pricing is very high for what you get. It says authentic Mexican experience but I didn’t find it any different than if we would have went to Hacienda for cheaper. The one thing I will say though is that their margaritas are HUGE. If you get a large, prepare not to drive home. I had a banana margarita and it was pretty good.

The way they redid the place was nice very well decorated and friendly staff. The chips, salsa, queso and guacamole were good. But our entree was gross. We ordered a fajita burrito and there was literally just steak wrapped in a tortilla. The rice was stale tasting and the beans were nasty. The kids had the best meal corn dog and fries that was more appealing than our entree. Friendly staff to fix our bill and pay for what we wanted. Maybe we will try again in months or a few years and see if it improved. But as of now it wasn’t good.

I ate here a few days ago and had a fantastic experience. The food was delicious and the decoration was vibrant and authentic, really setting the mood for a great meal. However, what really stood out to me was the exceptional service provided by the bartender, Jose. He was friendly, attentive, and had great knowledge of the menu. He really made my dining experience special making me feel comfortable and welcomed, it was just me but he made sure he was giving me the same attention as he did for the other tables that had more people. I enjoyed it so much that I am already planning on coming back soon, If not because I’m a truck driver I would eat here everyday. Overall, I highly recommend this restaurant for anyone looking for amazing Mexican food and outstanding service.

So happy we have one in Elkhart now. If you haven’t been yet, what are you waiting for! The tacos a la diabla are fantastic and our server Jorge was on top of everything.
