I recently ordered takeout from this restaurant, and I was blown away! Specifically the Fajita Poblana My order was ready in just 15 minutes, and everything was incredibly fresh. The rice was soft and perfectly cooked, the meat was juicy and tender, and the guacamole was vibrant, green, and made fresh—no browning at all. The chips were outstanding—truly made-to-order, not the stale, day-old chips you sometimes get elsewhere. Every bite was delicious. This is now my new favorite spot, and I can’t recommend it enough!

First and last time we come here.
We had Pollo con molè, chicken enchiladas, a chicken flauta, side of Chile con queso, and an order of sopapillas.
The molè was chocolate flavor-ish. Nothing savory to it. If LaCroix made molè, this would be it. The chicken in the flauta had no flavor. Unless you count fryer oil as flavor. The enchilada sauce was NOT enchilada sauce. We are pretty sure it was either Campbell’s Tomato soup, or straight tomato sauce with black pepper. The only thing with any flavor was the sopapillas and that flavor was salt and pepper. You could smell the cinnamon but all you get is cold fried dough that was salty and peppery.
The Chile con queso came in two separate containers. Melted Velveta cheese in one and spicy tomato salsa in the other. That isn’t Chile con queso. That is Chile *Y* (and) queso.
Could have spent less and gotten better from the frozen section at HEB.

My family and I have loved coming here since I was a young child, and now I get to enjoy coming here with my children. The staff and service are always amazing and respectful. The food is excellent! I have never had a meal I didn’t enjoy, and if something doesn’t quite meet your expectations, they are quick to fix it. In addition to great overall service, they are very respectful and accommodating to the needs of those with disabilities and children. My family and I have been to many Mexican and Tex-Mex restaurants, and in my opinion, El Rancho is the best place for Mexican food in the Kingwood, Humble, and Porter area.

Shrip Quesadillas are BOMB!
For a calmer experience, go early- dinner time can get busy and loud, but there are calmer areas you can request.

Food was fresh and service was excellent. Unfortunately not very authentic. They were out of Spam for main dishes until delivery arrived. On the garlic shrimp plate, the fried rice wasn’t fried and had no spam pieces and Mac salad was made with different noodles. Shrimp was fresh and cooked perfectly but was missing the garlic flavor. Loco Moco was good…liked the gravy.

I ordered rice and bean to go for 10 people along with a large queso. The lady told me it was $36. When I received my food it was only rice and queso and when I asked where the beans were she told me that I didn’t order beans! I clearly said rice AND BEAN. I thought the price was high for just 3 items. Never going back.

So, after doing my grocery shopping I happen to look at the back of the receipt. I noticed a coupon for El Ranchero Mexican Restaurant for Fajitas for one for $11.95. I don’t ever use coupons when choosing my dining preference but, I decided to try this one. I had the beef fajitas for one which came with refried beans, rice, 4-tortillas and guacamole. I also got tortilla chips with salsa. The chips were warm n crispy and the salsa was warm n delish! I like the salsa so much I put some on the fajitas. The food n service were excellent. I highly recommend it. Maybe I need to check the back of my receipts more often for more restaurant choices!

The food was okay, but unfortunately that wasn’t our biggest complaint. Many people recommended this restaurant so we gave it a try. Maybe it just wasn’t our day. The service was not great starting with the greeting and seating hostess. She wasn’t rude just seemed bothered to be there and bothered to have to end her cell phone call. The waitress who brought chips and drinks was equally unimpressed to be working today. We went ahead with ordering, which was fine. We requested shredded cheese, and the waitress just said “ok” but never came back with it. We asked for refills and instead were handed to-go boxes. This was not the overall experience we have heard about and we unfortunately won’t be returning.

Service was a little slow and out of order. We got our plate, no tortillas. I waited on my lemonade too long. When we got our bacon, it was burnt, so we sent it back, and when got it back it was a just a lighter shade of burnt. I was disappointed that the flour tortillas weren’t hand made. All in all, not a very good meal.
