The restaurant has a new, clean and modern feel. Greeted immediately and I opted to sit at the bar. The bar was well stocked and many tequilas are featured. I had a Dos Equis and browsed the menu. Lots of options, all reasonably priced. I got the Enchilada Verdes. It was delicious and was served within minutes of ordering. The presentation and plating of their food is impeccable. Servers were present and available without hoovering or neglect. I had flan to cap it off and the price was very reasonable. All told, I will certainly keep them in my rotation of favorites. Highly recommended!

And here it is, the season finale of the El Maguey restaurant tour; the cartel’s newest operation El Maguey Prime, in Bixby. With the name “Prime” expectations were set high.
It is a new modern building, roomy, well-lit by a combination of natural light provided by the many large windows, and the numerous very attractive ornamental lighting fixtures. Bright decorative artificial plants are scattered throughout the restaurant including a large artificial tree, draped with colorful tassels. Fronds of ferns and creepers of ivy hang from the ceiling. The effort creates an ambiance of evening dining outdoors.
The Chilaquallies. Not my usual Mexican menu selection. The picture looked fabulous. Mine with grilled chicken. Chips and chicken all covered with a mild fresh tangy sauce, decorated with a squiggle of creama, a little pickled purple onion, and a sprinkle of cilantro. Two sunny side on the side. Drag those big bright huevos over on top. Spice the whole meal up with the restaurant’s salsa picosa, break the yoks and Bam! That was delicious. Look at that picture!
My wife ordered the California Burrito. Really, a California Burrito. I questioned her judgment. She raved about it. I tasted of it. I must admit, it was damn good.
Professional, attentive service.
So, here are two meals that I would recommend to any of my most discriminating, Mexican food eatin’ friends.
Overall, the best Mexican restaurant dining experience in Bixby.

Finally a great dining experience in Bixby. Very clean restaurant and extremely helpful, courteous staff. Food came out really quick as well. Some of the best fish tacos I’ve had in a very long time. My only critique would be, offer nachos that weren’t blue corn and serve rice and beans (which were fantastic btw) with all dishes.

Not impressed at all. I ordered the appetizer they call premium nachos, for $15 barely filled the plate taco bueno Mexidip n chips is cheaper. And you get a lot more chips and it tasted burnt. They’re chimmy changa I got the chicken, was bland and extremely watery. The servings of rice was about half of what most mexican restaurants I go to are. My wife ordered the chicken monterrey and it had no flavor whatsoever like they Forgot to put seasoning on it. Waiter never refilled my drink and took forever to get check and forever for her to run my card. Would I recommend? NO

The food is good. However it is pricey. For an afternoon lunch it was about $50 after tip for 2. Comparing other Mexican resteraunts in town, where the cost is quite a bit less. It is good enough to return and dine again. The waiter was great, he was attentive without being overbearing.

Good food and atmosphere service was OK. Tableware consisted of 1 fork. Ordered a Pablamo pepper and it was good, but a little undercooked. I needed a knife cut it because a fork would’nt work. Finally got the attention of my server and asked for a knife and it was like she forgot about me. Took forever for her to bring me one. Finally got a knife so I could finish eating.

Great first time experience. Food was fresh and made fast, the salsa is GREAT and not drowning in cilantro. The Flamingo Margarita is a MUST!

This gringo came in expecting a simple dinner and got a full‑blown culinary plot twist from my hometown of Laredo. The Tacos de Calle (street tacos) were so good I briefly thought la abuela de amigo mio was in the kitchen. The staff treated me like I was the long‑lost primo finally showing up to the family reunion. If you’re thinking about going…. stop thinking and just go! Five stars and a standing ovation, horale.
