This place has gone down hill. Taco Bell does a better job. We have been coming here for 20 years. What has happened? The food and service is terrible. In the last month we have been there three times hoping it would get back to the old days. Never going back ever!

I ordered the TILAPIA AND SHRIMP for dinner, as I have on numerous occasions. I told “Emily”, my server, that my tilapia did not taste fresh, she stated “everything is fresh”, and then I told her that it had a different taste. She took offense and wanted to debate with me, so I asked to speak with the manager. Before the manager arrived, Emily returned to tell me the reason why the fish didn’t taste the same was because she was told the fish was not tilapia, but in fact, Swai. So this explains her defensive behavior. When “Pablo Lopez” finally came to my table, with an extremely pompous attitude, not apologetic one bit, he stated “the restaurant hasn’t used tilapia for a long time, and actually started using SWAI for the TILAPIA AND SHRIMP dinner FIVE years ago, and that they haven’t updated the menus yet, however, Swai was actually healthier”. I told him that I had been a patron of El Jinete for several years; and up to this point, enjoyed the food very much, however felt this was very deceptive and he was being very disrespectful, which he did not seem concerned about. To say the least, it should not take 5 years to update your menu to keep the consumer informed.

El Jinete in Roswell has been my go-to spot since high school, and it never disappoints! The food is always fresh and flavorful, with generous portions and great prices. The staff is welcoming, and the atmosphere is perfect for a casual meal. Highly recommend!

I’ve been coming here for 20+ years but I haven’t been in the last five years.

I was craving tacos something simple late afternoon meal.

Service was interesting where the hostess ask me how many and I said I’m just gonna sit at the bar. She then became our bartender and waitress even though there was a person behind the bar talking to someone. I said hello to her and she acknowledged me but never served us.

The hostess that took our order went back to the hostess stand, when we needed something we had to look around for her. She would see us looking for her and come right away. She did a great job serving us but just odd that the other person behind the bar never addressed us or asked if we needed anything. Maybe it was shift change time because it was late afternoon?

The chips and salsa show up, the salsa was very good, glad to see that hasn’t changed. A smooth tomatoey base. You can taste the garlic and cilantro. But the chips have changed, a little thicker – which I don’t like because they tend to jab and pierce the roof of my mouth. Unfortunately the first batch was stale so I sent them back, next batch was fine.

I ordered two beef hardshell tacos. I was a little disappointed with the chopped cheap lettuce, it was iceberg. The taco itself was delicious, crunchy shell good flavored meat and cheese, perfect. No problems there at all, totally satisfied my craving.

My girlfriend ordered the chicken soup. If you’ve never had chicken soup in a Mexican restaurant try it. It’s the best chicken soup I’ve ever had. I normally would never order things like chicken soup in a restaurant. To me it’s one of those things like meatloaf your mom makes on Sunday you don’t buy that from a restaurant. But I tried it once years ago and loved it, this place still rock ‘n’ roll‘s their chicken soup is phenomenal!

A really good chicken broth base and the chicken meat is not dry good flavor and tender. The cilantro flavors are there as well. Then the touch of fresh avocado just makes it.

Four stars instead of three because they still had great service and the food was still really good despite first batch of stale chips and weird service.

Handicap accessible. Open spaces, easy access in and around the restaurant. Lots of parking out front.

Located in a shopping center with a Movie Tavern so when the movies are going the parking lot can get crowded. Another thing to consider is to come here before or after your movie and have a good Mexican meal verses eating in the theater – just a personal thing I don’t like eating my food in a dark theater where I can’t tell if it’s cooked all the way etc. Ive been served raw chicken wings there but that’s a review for another day.

Yum! Delicious crispy beef tacos here! I ordered 2 tacos – one beef and one steak. I did prefer the ground beef better. I added tomatoes. One “deluxe” taco cost $3.45.

Also, their tortilla chips are just OK, but their salsa & cheese dip with jalapeño is delicious!!!

My friend got the tacos Carnitas it was a lot of food you get three tacos. He loved it. It also came with a side of cilantro, onions, and spicy salsa. ️

Not too crowded. Comfortable booths! Will definitely be back!

The food is sickening it horrible. El Nasty
Believe the salsa is totally watery. take a good look at the people that like the restaurant and the reviews that of those people, they just pay people to do the good reviews for them because believe me, it’s nothing good about this restaurant their Mexican friends to go on there and do reviews. The chips are horrible the beans refried ,big chunks and lumps. Everything was horrible. The dish ordered. It was stale and old.
