Our usual go to place closed so in looking for a new sit down place to try, I discovered this place nearby. Wow! It was like going into a Time Machine to 1990s Galveston when I was first introduced to yummy TexMex. I don’t know what the complaints are regarding the cheese enchiladas- so cheesy, and the gravy! Absolutely Perfect Gravy.
We each got a dinner of mixed items to try and we couldn’t finish it all. Everything was delicious, down to the salsa.
This is our new go to place now. Highly recommend.

I moved out of state 10 years ago, but when I come into town I’ll stop by when I can. My family who still lives in Houston is very loyal to this place, all the way back from the late 90s, and they were still off 1960. Oscar is a warm and convivial host and remembers my parents from those days. The food is about the same from how I remember it growing up in those times. Not as busy, though, and we had three different waitstaff come to our table asking if we needed anything. My food came out pretty fast and was good, lots of cheese just how i like it. I Still have good memories of the food, the owner and years past and glad to see they’re still going strong.

My family goes back once a year to this old family fav resturant hoping they will wise up & go back to their original recipes. Especially their cheese enchiladas! They used to be the best, cheesist enchiladas around. But alas, it’s not happened since they moved from FM1960. I give up.

Our whole family has been enjoying many dinners, lunches and parties at El Imperial since the 1980s. We were delighted to find them at their newest location.
Same great owners and staff! We will be back!

I ordered to pick up, I asked for a grill for two and it had very little meat, it was only enough for one, the sausage they give is a poor quality one from a supermarket and the beans are not mixed with anything else because they don’t taste like beans, I don’t know, the food is very bad and the price is not right, for example in Los Cucos you can eat much better for that price, I would not recommend this place, I will not buy there again.

Always awesome old school Tex Mex here! The cheese enchiladas are fantastic here. Pro-tip: ask them to top them with Beef Fajita meat. Great Shrimp Brochettes too.
