To start the chips and salsa , uff the green salsa is out of this world, best tasting salsa I 4hadt so far tangy , smoky with a kick and and charred hint . The red spicy salsa great tasting but watch out it will bring the heat up . The mild sauce is chunky and flavorful. I ordered the tlacoyo , and it brought me back to my child hood the tlacoyo was filled with beans topped with cactus salad , queso fresco and sour cream. I also ordered the alambres , most authentic alambres I had so far ,a mix of steak , pork and chicken, grilled tomato, onion , jalapeño with melted cheese , with a side of tasty refried beans , Mexican rice cooked to perfection , salad , avocado and sour cream , choice of flour or corn tortillas , a match made in heaven !!!!!! The star of the show had to definitely be the Horchata , it was just so perfect words can’t describe it . A must visit place when you are in Grand Rapids.

There plenty of parking here during lunch hours. You will walk in and pass the bathrooms. It’s nice when there are two bathroom . Once you pass the bathroom there will be a 2nd door. If you want to sit down, wait for the host to direct you. If you want take out. Head over to the register. The menu is simple to read. The pictures do help with decision making. I had a few questions and they answered all of them. Payment will be in the form of cash or credit card. The food was good. I got the crunchy tacos meal. I would have ordered more food had I know how good the tacos where. I would recommend thos restaurant.

I really love the food here, and to be honest it had the best food out of all the Hispanic restaurants I’ve tried. I would also like to appreciate El Granjero for being my carters for my Quinceañera, the food was amazing and the guest adored the food. Thank you guys for the amazing, kind hospitality. I will be visiting with my family.

This was my first visit to El Granjero and I really enjoyed it. It was nice seeing a lot of vegetarian options, but they were not vegan as a lot of cheese was involved. The salsa made in house was very good. Cactus was featured in quite a few of the dishes. We had tried the nachos, torta, wet burrito, and vegetable combo. The interior was very clean and the furnishings are utilitarian. The staff was very nice and had a pleasant attitude even though it was kind of busy. The food came out reasonably quick. We’ll be back!

Great experience. The refried beans were the best I’ve had in years. Very flavorful. I loved the fajitas and my husband enjoyed his Alambre Especial dish as well. Everything fresh and delicious. Waitress did an excellent job of making sure we were well taken care of. Will definitely return!

El Granjero was an absolute delight. The good was incredible, two in our party split the molcajete, which was piled with steak, nopales, chiles, queso and more. I had the enfrijoladas, these wonderful enchiladas with a creamy black bean sauce. And the homemade horchata was perfectly spiced. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly, staff are terrific, off-street parking. I’d go back in a heartbeat!

Maybe I ordered wrong, or maybe it’s because it was a Sunday. But I tried both the tlacoyos and sopes, and both were as hard as roofing tiles, definitely not freshly made. I Also ordered the carnitas, and the meat was tough and bland. Overall, just really disappointing. Won’t go back.

Ordered carnitas and received chicken.
Didn’t order chips and salsa and they tried to charge for it anyway.
I never had anyone come to the table to refill drink or check if I wanted anything else.
See above why I chose not to leave any tip, but yet somehow $2 extra showed up on my bill from what was on the screen.
Beware and check your bill with these people!

El Granjero Mexican Grill catered my wedding on 10.5.2025 and was great! Gaby was so nice and professional, and was in constant communication with me throughout the planning process and day of our event. We received so many compliments on how good the appetizers and main meal were, that they were both filling and folks who were gluten free could eat almost everything we had. Gaby and El Granjero also provided a vegetarian option to fit the needs of a few of our guests. We are so pleased that they were a part of our wedding day!

Did you know there are no less than 5 Mexican restaurants in this neighborhood?
3 others are on the same street within about 4 blocks.
Yet we always end up at El Granjero.
Why?
Great taste, speed, service and consistency!
Each of the others in the area has a problem with at least one of these things.
Try the chimmichanga, it’s really good.
