Eating at El Gallito Restaurant felt like experiencing real, no-frills Mexican cooking done right. From the moment I sat down, the energy, aromas, and visuals made it clear this place values tradition over trends. Every dish I tried tasted intentional, well-seasoned, and rooted in authenticity. I appreciated how generous the portions were without sacrificing quality. The atmosphere between the murals, handwritten signs, and constant flow of customers felt alive and deeply cultural. This isn’t a rushed or tourist-only spot; it feels like a place locals genuinely trust. Overall, El Gallito delivers food with heart, history, and consistency, and it’s a place I’d confidently return to again and again.

First, breakfast was delicious. We ordered huevos rancheros and huevos a la mexicana, and tamal de elote. The coffee was descent. The service was friendly and courteous. Prices are average. We walked upstairs, but there is an elevator. About the atmosphere – you have to be ok with open space with lots of people passing by. Regarding cleanliness, well considering that there are no walls and doors, one has to understand that the entire market place shares vermin and pests. Once again, is open market place. I didn’t see any critters or rodents, but read a review complaining. If you see something don’t stay and then complaint. Is like eating street tacos… one gets all the car’s pollutants. Come and just enjoy the food.

I was not sure if this was the correct place, I ordered tacos from about five years ago. I ordered the same tacos, two Asada and two Pollo with salsa Verde. When they were delivered and I opened the bag I knew that this was the place. I will be ordering here every time I come to commerce. To me these tacos are the best!

This is a no-frills taco stand with amazing burritos. The carne asada burrito is my go-to, and it’s packed with flavor. The red salsa is spicy but delicious. Service is quick and friendly even when they’re busy. Perfect for a late-night craving

Would not recommend this place at all, had the worse tacos of my live. Was overcharged for items that were not ordered. The server did not want to take accountability of her mistake. And to top it off you can see roaches crawling through the walls GROSS. Definitely will make a report with the public health department about this!!

We came to the Mercado seeking the Mariachis but that place is out of business. We were seeking to provide a different experience for an out of towner and the food here was authentic Mexican and it was delicioso.
