I love this place so much. I’ve been coming here since I was 12 with my family. I’m now 24 and the food is just as amazing. The ladies are still amazing. This will forever be an authentic restaurant and we will forever love this place. I brought my boyfriend and he had nothing but positive things to say. Amazing Pupusas. Thank you!!!

Went here on a Wednesday morning around 8am. Place wasn’t packed. Parking a little difficult to find.
As the purported inventors of the Mission Burrito we definitely had to step in to check it out. The inside of the store harkens back to a time when Monte Carlos, sideburns and thick mustaches were the fad. Very 70’s-80’s vibes. The tile mural adorning the top portion of the restaurant is very beautiful and gives it a very local feel. The menu board is even unchanged. The owner of the restaurant hooked me up with a Super Burrito of carne asada with all the fixins. The burrito itself isn’t anything mind-blowing, but it is your typical neighborhood joint that’s full of history. The slight crispness of the wheat flour tortilla adds a nice touch.
Overall, a worthy place to visit for a piece of SF culinary history. The Vicente Fernandez wall piece of his outfit is a definite plus and the owner is more than glad to talk shop. Check them out!

Really a genuine, down to earth establishment for your burrito or taco fix. Patience was given in bucketloads to myself as a foreigner who doesn’t know their way around the menu. I had tacos, super tasty, no frills just good stuff. They asked if I wanted spicy, I said yes, just a squirt of hot sauce but it packs a good punch without overpowering. Love it. Apparently this is a historical place with claim to influence development of the mission burrito as you might know it today, and home of the super burrito.

I got the largest burrito with al pastor and it was a reasonable $17 after tax. It was generally solid but unremarkable. The meat was flavorful and properly portioned but there was a chunk of cartilage. The lettuce was very limp and detracted from the burrito, while the tomatoes were fine. The rice and refried beans were good and there was the right amount of cheese. I specified spicy salsa but couldn’t detect anything, and the side salsa was bland and watery. The small portion chips wasn’t homemade but was crispy. Service is fast and there was no line at 6:00 p.m. on a Thursday. If I go again, I’d step down to the super burrito so I can skip the lettuce, but the salsa was disappointing enough to make me think twice.

Needed to grab a quick lunch and this was close by. They have some tables inside. A huge selection of drinks as well as agua fresco. Ordered mild carnitas tacos which seemed a bit more like medium for me but not flaming hot. Next time I’ll try the tamales.

El Faro, one of the original taquerias in San Francisco. I ordered the chicken milanesa sandwich, a huge sandwich made on a soft roll that was toasted on the grill, it came with a good amount of fried breaded chicken, assembled between layers of lettuce , tomato, onions, jalapeño with mayonnaise as the dressing, the sandwich was cut in half, with each half the size of my hand. They service was prompt and the area was super clean. A place with many years of history.

You have a lot of choices when it comes to tacquerias and breakfast burritos in the Mission! This is place has one of top three in my opinion! The eggs, oozing meat, frilled tortillas all come together very nicely with the spicy salsa. Great customer service and reasonable price. This place has been around for a long time! Must be doing something right! Yes, the breakfast burrito!

Okay now, let me tell ya! These 3 ladies were simply amazing, the place was busy since was SF Carnaval 2021; They manage to take orders and served you to cook your order We order the Super Burrito my husband well let’s just say he only left 1/4 of it he order 3 pupusas and I could only finished one ☺️it was scrumptious! Can’t wait to try the other two ! Make time to visit.

I was born and raised in San Francisco and I grew up eating their amazing food when we were to tired to cook. Everything is fresh, made to order and the burritos are big! They have a large menu..alot to choose from. It’s clean and has so many pictures of famous people who have eating there! Cash and credit card accepted..reasonable pricing. There is no bathroom but there is a seating area for several people and high chairs for the little kids. Raymunda was so friendly and she’s been there over 36 years…she’s The owner..she served us as we sat down and brought our cups..she was friendly with my children. Shelooks so young too! Rita was also very helpful and friendly when I put in my 2nd order to take to my mother. I truly miss living in San Francisco and being able to get a quick delicious burrito at El Faro! ❤❤

Yesterday was my first time trying a Mission Burrito. I’ve been in the Bay Area 5.5 months. If you haven’t been to the Mission District Before, try this place. The hands down best burrito I have had in California. Mission is phenomenal and very nice. I got an Al Pastor with Spanish Rice and Guacamole and Sour Cream and this thing was huge. I finished it before I got to Dolores Park. I come from Dallas, where the burritos are smaller in diameter but longer and more breakfast-oriented. I want to thank both ladies for their hard work in the restaurant yesterday, you can’t beat home cooking like theirs. Not on this magnitude at least. I will recommend this place to every tourist who travels here.
