First time dining at D Prime Steak House. They only had availability at 10:00 PM, and since they close at 10:30, I understand we were there at the tail end of the night. That said, the service was just okay—nothing terrible, but it did feel a bit rushed. I totally get end-of-night fatigue, but a little more effort would have elevated the experience.
The drinks were honestly the weakest part of the night. The gimlet was overly sour and not very enjoyable. My friend ordered a smoked Old Fashioned, and unfortunately it tasted like butane from the torch used for the smoke effect. To the server’s credit, they exchanged it immediately without any hesitation, which I appreciated.
Now for the highlight: the steak saved the night. Absolutely melt-in-your-mouth tender and cooked to perfection. Easily the star of the show and the reason this place still earns a strong rating. The rest of the food was solid and enjoyable, but the steak truly stood out.
Despite a few hiccups, I’d be willing to give D Prime another try—hopefully earlier in the evening next time to get the full experience.

Top notch steakhouse and seafood restaurant inside the MGM Detroit.
The tomahawk steak is massive, juicy and tender.
The king crab legs are meaty, sweet and delicious.
The lobster tail is large and it is mighty delicious.
The shrimp appetizer is a must have along with the crab cake.
Do Not miss the dessert. You will be sorry.
The restaurant is small but roomy. The staff are very friendly and welcoming.
I stay at the MGM at least 6 times a year. I never skip this restaurant.
I highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for delicious food.

D. Prime truly lives up to its reputation. I went with the Maple Glazed Salmon, and it was beautifully seared with a delicate balance of flavors—the carrot purée paired surprisingly well with the bright, citrusy Yuzu Beurre Blanc.
My father chose the Chilean Sea Bass, and the clean plate at the end said everything. The Champagne and Tarragon Beurre Blanc added just the right touch of richness without overpowering the fish.
Now, the sides might just steal the entire spotlight. The D. Prime Cornbread arrives in its own cast iron skillet and stays warm through the whole meal. It comes with three different butters: honey ginger, cracked pepper and roasted garlic, and smoked sea salt with maple. There’s truly a flavor for every mood. The Creamed Corn is essential, thanks to the Shishito Peppers adding depth and just a hint of intrigue. And the Sautéed Wild Mushrooms finished with Sherry are rich, earthy, and truly memorable.
In short: go, and go soon.

Sorry to say I did not enjoy this restaurant/experience. Walking in, it smelled terrible. I could smell burning steaks and a fish odor. I should’ve walked out then.
When we got to our table, the waitress took our order. My partner ordered the salmon. I ordered a bone-in ribeye. She then offered salads. I declined, and he ordered a salad.
Food arrived-everything but his fish. She thought he wanted the salad instead. That was confusing. The manager rushed the order and offered a free dessert.
About my steak. It had a small sliver of bone ( not a ribeye btw) and was very tough. I didn’t eat it.
Manager arrived again. Took the steak off the menu and revoked the dessert.
I would not recommend eating here. I’m attaching a picture of the steak…it shows the ‘bone.’ Sides we ordered were not that good either.

Didn’t initially plan to write a review, but very disappointing. When you think of a $100 steak, you assume you will be getting mouth watering perfectly cooked steak. Unfortunately that wasn’t my experience. My steak was ordered medium rare and I specifically told the waiter I do not want an overcooked steak and asked if I should get it rare instead to make sure. He assured me the chefs cook to what you order. Turns out he was wrong.. I got a severely overcooked cut of meat. It was cooked past medium. I brought it to the waiters attention even though I didn’t want to. He stated it was too dark for him to be able to tell so I put a light on it and he said it looked like medium which was quite conservative. I was then offered a free desert for the badly looked steak. All of the food was not hot. Not cold but room temp at best. Overall just not worth the money or even close. If you want to be an upscale restaurant, make sure you know how to cook meat correctly and check it for temperature before it hits the table. Will not be going back and honestly feel as if I got ripped off very badly as I continue to think about it

We loved this restaurant. From the minute you walk through the door you are treated to excellence. We had the prime rib and chicken pasta that was amazing. We also tried the cornbread and Mac n cheese sides. Highly recommend all of the above. The highlight was the desert of the spiced candied apple. We will definitely go back next time! Shout out to Benjamin our waiter for doing an amazing job.

D Prime steak house at the MGM Detroit is not far from the casino floor. What a delightful, lush, elegant restaurant! We had a dry aged ribeye steak, baked potatoe, creamed corn, salt and pepper calamari, brioche bread, and sautéed mushrooms! Our waitress could not have been nicer! Dinner was excellent! Mushrooms tasted like they had been cooked in bone marrow! So rich! The creamed corn and steak with béarnaise sauce were my favorites! Had the lemon for dessert ! Magical!

Perfect Service included an oration of a superb selection of food and how it’s prepared, and a selection which was worthy of its international clientele. A Parade of service that was efficient and precisely timed for the best delivery possible. No visit to Detroit is complete without Chef Derek’s Lip smacking lamb chops, yet these were the best yet. My guests marveled over the most tender steaks and fresh shrimp, the creamiest potatoes, grilled Brussels sprouts and cornbread still warm in the skillet. The 7-layer carrot cake is rich and always enough to take half home which will wake you up in the night for another luscious bite. The cheesecake will melt in your mouth and make you want to take one home (or two). Don’t miss this experience!

The food was very underwhelming. The service was nice but not exceptional. I would not go back here.
