I hate to leave a bad review because I know times are tough and small businesses are crucial to our communities. At the same time, we all work hard and look forward to treating ourselves once in a while.
If you want consistent, loyal customers, there are a few areas that really need improvement. The tortillas were undercooked and tasted dry — lightly frying them in lard or oil could add flavor and texture. The steak did not taste fresh and seemed like it had been sitting out; marinating and portioning to order could help with both flavor and freshness. The rice lacked seasoning and tasted like instant Mexican rice. There was barely any cheese on the tacos, and they were filled with excess lettuce, which made it feel like the portions of meat and cheese were being stretched.
I understand the need to control costs, but good tacos bring repeat customers. Unfortunately, these were some of the worst tacos I’ve had, and I truly hope improvements are made because this place has potential.

The food is good the place is good The only problem when I entered the bathroom I got a little scared.
In a restaurant, the bathroom is supposed to be very, very clean.
It’s a bit unpleasant to eat and enter a bathroom that is dirty.
They also need to put hand towels in the bathroom.

I called and placed an order for pick up. The person I was talking to was friendly and took my order. When I picked up the food, I had no issues. The food was pretty expensive for a burrito and quesadilla. It was good but not 24 dollars good. I checked the food delivery apps and saw that they charge the same amount for in person orders as they do with online orders through Uber. There are places nearby that don’t charge the Uber tax if you call and pick up yourself. This isn’t one of those places.
Anyways, while the food was good, it wasn’t anything special where it stands out. The burrito I ate had a piece of bone in it that I bit down on. Luckily it was pretty big and I didn’t bite down hard so it really didn’t do damage to me. I just pulled it out of my mouth and set it aside to take a picture of it. The steak quesadilla was good but not great.

It could really mess up someone’s teeth if they bit down hard on one and leaves a feeling that you might bite or choke on another piece of bone if you keep eating and aren’t careful. Amazing flavor. Ordered the chicken burrito, and it was a flavor explosion from first bite to the last. The churros are the same. Very friendly staff. Will definitely return if I’m in the area again

Good tacos definitely! The lines can get big on Dollar Tuesdays & Thursdays, maybe Saturdays ( I’m not completely sure if it’s dollar tacos on Saturdays) but they are pretty quick either way. The only thing that took me by surprise is that they charge you for limes!!! and they still give you very thin slices so be aware of this if you like lime on your Mexican food.

A couple months back all the way to 3 years ago I would have given this place the 5 stars it deserves even 10 stars but today i just found out after not eating here for a while that the original cooks and staff have left. The food was amazing here hardly any squishy fat on the steak tacos now there’s a hand full and they are less generous with the meat but will top it off with lettuce. Definitely miss the old crew that worked here. Definitely will have to look for another good taco place.

¡Qué sabroso! No tengo hambre despues de mi visita al Famous Burrito, estoy muy lleno!! Super delicious tacos, burritos, and enchiladas. I thoroughly enjoyed my 3-taco dinner including al pastor, pollo, and puerco. Also loved the chile relleno and gulped down every sip of the house-made horchata. If you’re in the Hoffman Estates/Bartlett area and love good food, a visit to get food from Famous Burrito is an absolute must!!
