We ate at El Cristo Restaurant in Miami and left disappointed. We ordered the Ropa Vieja main course, which comes with two sides. We chose black beans and sweet plantains. We also ordered plain bottled water separately.

The beef had good flavor but was tough and hard to chew. The beans were overcooked and mushy. The plantains were the best part. The bill shocked us: $7 for a plastic bottle of water, an added 3% credit card fee before paying (they removed it after we questioned it), and an automatic 18% gratuity even though the food and service were not great.

The single unisex bathroom smelled moldy and had dirty walls and an overall unsanitary feel. We will not be returning and do not recommend it.

We are local and not visitors. We support our community and give honest reviews. Our hope is that the owner will correct the issues we ran into with this place.

We tried several other more “popular” spots for lunch along Calle Ocho, but long lines and an inflexible timeline inspired us to try this inviting spot. While El Cristo had solid ratings, we were overjoyed with the quality of the food. We ordered a Cuban sandwich, a Chicken sandwich and Ropa Vieja. The Chicken sandwich was served hot with a delicious combination of mustard and mayo that I loved. The Ropa Vieja was served in a perfect lunch portion and flavor was as complex and delicious as we’ve ever had. The Yucca was spiced well and amazing. The Cuban sandwich was also terrific, and the Tres Leches was soaked through and incredible. Don’t overlook this fun and amazing spot on a famous street.

What a wonderful experience we had at this restaurant. The food was definitely Cuban. Tasty and flavorful. My tacos just had to many onions for me and my wife needed a little sauce or mayo for her sandwich. The price was great.
Service was great.

I visited this restaurant in Little Havana with high expectations, but the experience was underwhelming.

The food was quite average and did not justify the high prices. This was especially noticeable because I had Cuban food near my hotel during the same trip that was more affordable, more flavorful, and served in much more generous portions.

I was also uncomfortable seeing an 18% tip already pre-printed on the receipt without clear prior notice.

Overall, the value here did not match the cost. Better food quality and clearer communication about tipping would greatly improve the experience.

Very satisfied with the lunch we had on Calle ocho. This restaurant is very pretty, the food quite good and the service perfect. We ate outside on the terrace and felt very well. There was nice Latin music and even the restroom was clean. I highly recommend

If you are looking to get away from the crowded tourism on Calle Ocho but want authentic food, go here. There was no wait on an extremely busy holiday weekend. As a Cuban American, this food was authentic and service was very good.

We visited El Cristo as part of our food tour of Little Havana and it was delightful. Their back patio is a perfect spot for a meal. We were given beef empanadas with a green sauce. The empanadas are absolutely huge here and you’re really getting a great bang for buck. They were juicy, flavorful, and really good. Highly recommend.

Food was sooooo good. Fast service, great music playing in the background. Just got off Carmival Cruise, best food I’ve had all week! I had the platter.
