We ordered take out on a Saturday night. They had just opened a week prior. The staff were very helpful despite being busy. Many staff members stopped to ask if I needed anything and if I was being helped as I waited for my food.
The food was delicious and portions were generous! We will be eating here again.

It’s a disgrace to call it Mexican food.. ordered four dishes, fajita, taco and enchiladas comb, quesadillas placera, and another dish… the chicken was so dry you can chew it for hours but can’t swallow. The hard shell taco and enchiladas with beef tasted like canned beef and the taco was soggy. What makes it worse is the price of the food. Average $16+ per dish… for Mexican food at this price point, I expected more than the canned and microwaved level of food. Honestly Costco’s microwaved burritos are 2 times better than this. Terrible terrible food. Putting canned meat in a shell with beans does not make it Mexican…

El Compa is fantastic!!! The food is delicious, the portions are generous, and the staff is awesome! I recommend the fajitas. I couldn’t decide if I wanted steak or chicken. They were very accommodating and made a combo of both! Antonio, the great bartender, also brought out a spicy sauce that hit the spot! Deveyn, one of the waitstaff, was so friendly! Between their wonderful demeanors and the fantastic meal, my first time there will most definitely NOT be my last!!! I highly recommend El Compa!!!

Just went for lunch. Our first visit was good. The food is good, the service was very friendly. They are still working on the beer license and working through some details but it was a good experience.
We had Lengua sopes, Lengua tacos, Mario’s fajita (steak, chicken & shrimp), beef tacos and finished with churros & Choco flan for dessert. Definitely a repeat place.

Nice comfortable atmosphere. The staff were very courteous, a bit confused about the menu. Food was fresh, with subtle flavors, not too spicy. My drink was ok. Not too expensive. I would come back! It is easy going.

Ate here for the first time tonight and thought it was great! The owner and waiter were super friendly and I thought the food was delicious. I’m quite picky because I’m from California and have found it difficult to find good Mexican food on the east coast. The helpings were super generous and we had lots of leftovers. And the cocktails were good and well priced. Will def be returning!

I had a pleasant experience dining in with a group of friends on cinco de mayo. The staff were very friendly! Food was decent in presentation but could have improved in taste; some items were obviously not as fresh as they could have been. Also, the portion sizes were confusing… an $11 enchilada dish had more food on it than a $14 plate with 3 tacos. It seemed slightly overpriced for the amount of food we received. The dessert was good too, but again, inconsistent portions. Overall, the atmosphere was good and staff were friendly, but there are better quality options for Mexican food in the area.

Absolutely delicious and authentic! Staff was very nice and attentive. They immediately brought us chips, salsa and water when we sat down. I got the rib eye fajitas and it was so good, I ate every bite. My husband got the carnitas tacos and the meat melted in your mouth. Will definitely return and be one of our favorites.

El Compa is the real thing. Fresh ingredients, good preparation and presentation. For diners familiar with the menus of the West Coast and urban Mexico, and in search of authentic cuisine, there is no degree of separation. The menu has most conventional staples and is full. There are some particulars. The rellenos are of the breaded variety, which is a matter of preference. The mole is excellent, but is restricted to a single dish. However, the chef will customize an order if it is absent from the menu. The margaritas are simply excellent.
El Compa is family friendly. There is access and convenience for the disabled and small children. Again, there is willingness to customize food orders. For those disappointed in the available Mexican cuisine on the Connecticut shoreline, there is a first rate alternative.

Our party of 4 loves Mexican and has been around but wow this experience was horrible. The restaurant itself is so uncomfortably hot, everyone’s faces were flush after only being at our table preparing to order. We were all sweating by the time we left. The waiter that really didn’t seem to understand what we were saying got only 2 of the 4 orders correct as well as forgot our side dishes, and never checked on us after taking the order. The food is so incredibly bad. The tacos immediately fell apart as a soaked mush, the beef and the chicken both seem to be soaked in some type of gelatinous sauce but was still so very dry. Both the meats just looked like wet dog food, it was so unsettling. Chewed and chewed but just unseasoned dryness. After a couple bites no one continued. The beans had an odd taste as well and no one could eat more than a taste and the rice was incredible bland. We had high hopes being it’s Mexican and pretty hard to get wrong but wow, it’s really bad. My daughter did say and I agreed the fries were good but we definitely will not be going back. Avoid at all costs.
PART 2!
Editing my review since El Compa apparently needs to know which food, after explaining which foods in the review? To note, 3 of the 4 people that ate anything other than fries have had serious “stomach issues” since eating.
The food ordered by those who were very sick last night through to this morning;
Beef Burrito, Chicken Taco with Rice and Beans (this had to be re-made as the proteins were swapped when originally delivered)
Beef Taco, Chicken Enchilada with Rice and Beans
Kids Beef Taco with Rice and Beans
