El Caldero is amazing. My wife and I have been to the DR many times, and El Caldero is as authentic as it gets. The Pico Pollo was perfect – great flavor and falls off the bone. I had yh I Camarofongo – it was delicious and filled me up completely. The service was great and the price was very reasonable.

Food was good. No complains there. Service was on the lower side. Waiter seemed exhausted and rolled her eyes when we ask for an extra glass of water. For a Dominican restaurant, I honestly expected more of a tropical ambiance (maybe I went at the wrong time ???). Religious music was being played the entire time I was there (not that that it’s bad, but I just didn’t expect that in a restaurant). I would recommend for y’all to take their food for take out and eat at home.

We found this place by chance on a Google search leaving a Marriage Conference. Wow were we blessed! This place was absolutely amazing! The service was so accommodating and friendly and the food was top shelf. Authentic and well prepared. This will be our new yearly Sunday stop after the conference! Highly reccommend!

I love their food. However, I can not say enough about a certain practice they have that is, well, crooked. When you pay for your food, they add a service charge. I haven’t paid with a credit card. The first time I questioned this practice, the girl at the register didn’t speak English. She got the manager. The manager removed the charge. The 2nd time I was there, a different girl rang me up. The extra charge was there. I asked her to remove it. She argued with me about the charge but finally removed it. I had eaten a meal of delicious meatballs. I ordered two more meatball meals to go. The serving I had while at the restaurant was plentiful. But when I opened the boxes at home, there was only 3 meatballs in each box. The take out plates were mostly all rice. Very disappointed and felt ripped off. I had also gotten potato salad on the side. When I opened the container, the was far less than when I eat in the restaurant. So, while the food is great, they may ruin their business ripping off customers.

El Calderon Dominican Restaurant opened not long ago up here in Gainesville, Georgia. A few weeks ago I wanted to stay local and remembered this spot was hidden over there in the corner of Gainesville and Oakwood. As I browsed their menu I see they had MOFONGO!! Mofongo is a Puerto Rican dish that has fried green plantains but they are made into like a mash potato dish along with some delicious seasoning.

The Dominican food served at el Caldero is perhaps one of the tastiest Dominican food I have eaten while in Georgia. The rice there was rich in flavor and the meat there tasted good with every bite I took. It was especially filling so this is a good spot to come to when you’re really hungry. I actually heard about El Caldero through Latin Restaurant Weeks and I’m glad I was the opportunity to know about this spot and try its food. Highly recommend everyone in Gainesville to stop by here.

I would have give 3 stars but the entertainment was amazing. A Puerto Rican guy named Hector on Saturday nights! Really small, very little English so it’s obviously a very Latino place just so you know. I’m not familiar with Dominican Republic food even though I’ve been there twice. We had the $30 fried sampler platter. It’s HUGE and fried…. very fried lol. I’m sure that’s their way of cooking and we enjoyed it with very cheap beers! Also jalapeno shots, a must try. Go on Saturday and see Hector

First time visiting this place and I have nothing but great things to say… The location is easy to access, the place is clean, the employees are very friendly and knowledgeable, and the food is mouth watering. Do you want to taste the true flavors of our friends from the Dominican Republic? Then give them a visit. I felt like I was visiting an aunt or my mom in my island of Puerto Rico. Recommend 100%. I wish them nothing but success!

We saw an ad on Facebook and decided to give this restaurant a shot and I’m so glad we did! We’ve been to a few restaurants that looked good but didn’t taste very authentic and lacked flavor. The food at this restaurant however, could not be more delicious and authentic ! The owners and staff are kind and deliver excellent service. Our family will definitely be coming by regularly 10/10 !
