Such a great Japanese dining experience! This place had been on my list for a while after seeing so many great reviews, and it definitely lived up to the hype.

The restaurant is bright, clean, and very welcoming. The staff were friendly, and the service was great.

Everything we ordered was fresh, beautifully presented, and absolutely delicious. We ended up finishing every single bite!

Definitely a place I’d come back to again. Highly recommend!

A cut above! Amazing and authentic Japanese lunch and dinner sets are served here. The presentation of every item and dish is absolutely beautiful. The quality and taste of the food is superb as well. It’s a very popular place so if you don’t have a reservation, you will need to line up at least 15 minutes before opening just to get a reasonable chance at getting a table and even then the lines are already quite long ahead of you but the wait was worth it.

Would highly recommend their Unagi sets which come with an instruction card on multiple ways to eat it. The side dishes with the sets offer tons of variety too! The tempura is fried perfectly. The food is kinda interactive in a good way.

We went for the Valentine’s Day special and if you ordered a Gozen, you got one of their delicious homemade Hokkaido ice creams for free which was a great bonus!

This Japanese restaurant is probably the best place for eel I’ve had so far in Vancouver. The eel has a slightly crispy, caramelized surface with a perfectly balanced sweet-savory glaze, and the meat is so tender that every bite feels really satisfying. Paired with rice, it’s the kind of dish that makes you want to keep eating.

Their sushi is also really impressive. Even the simplest rolls taste delicious and well-balanced. The rice texture is just right, not too sticky or too loose, and the vinegar flavor is subtle but present. When combined with ingredients like tempura shrimp or avocado, everything comes together smoothly without any one flavor overpowering the others. You can really taste the freshness of the ingredients.

I also really like their aburi (seared) sushi. The light torching adds a beautiful smoky aroma to the fish, and with a touch of seasoning or chili on top, each bite has great depth of flavor. If you enjoy seared sushi, this is definitely worth ordering.

The soft-shell crab tempura is another highlight. The batter is crispy but not oily, while the crab inside stays juicy and sweet. With a bit of lemon or dipping sauce, it’s incredibly satisfying.

Even their grilled chicken, which looks like a simple dish, is done really well. The chicken is tender and juicy without being dry, and it pairs nicely with the side salad for a refreshing balance.

One thing that really stood out to me was seeing a staff member cleaning the tables very thoroughly one day. They weren’t just wiping quickly, but actually cleaning carefully and seriously. It really showed how much the restaurant cares about hygiene and attention to detail, which made me feel even more comfortable dining there.

Overall, this is a restaurant I can happily return to again and again. Whether it’s the eel, sushi, tempura, or grilled dishes, everything is consistently delicious. I always leave feeling satisfied, and I’m already looking forward to trying more dishes next time. Highly recommended for anyone who loves Japanese food

Had a fantastic experience here, and loved their Unagi dish

The only reason this is not a 5/5 review is because they messed up my girlfriend’s order and made us wait longer to eat together, (I was not going to eat before she got her food) probably an innocent mistake but threw the experience a tiny tad lower. Wait staff promptly apologized and rectified the mistake.

The food was amazing, Unagi, nigiri, everything was great. Compared to all the Japanese cuisines in Richmond, this place is up there and authentic.

Overall the staff were good , vibe was cozy.

You should call to make a reservation though , staff was very professional and kind over the phone and accommodating

I had an excellent meal at Edokko! The sushi was incredibly fresh and flavorful, and you could really taste the quality in every bite. I also tried the unagi don, and it was absolutely delicious — tender, perfectly seasoned, and so satisfying.

The food here is consistently fresh and beautifully prepared. I’d definitely recommend Edokko to anyone looking for great sushi and unagi!

I heard that their unagi set is very good, so I decided to give it a try. The unagi set was indeed impressive, while the other dishes were fairly standard. Overall, the ingredients were fresh and the service was generally very good. The greeter was especially warm and welcoming, although there was a wait for a table, they were very patient and attentive.

I enjoyed the food here, the waiter and waitresses are all friendly and have amazing recommendations. Order anything and you should be satisfied.

The time I went they had some special orders made in Hokkaido, if you been there you know how amazing the food is. If you haven’t, then you can now try it out at this restaurant.

after hearing two ppl rave abt this place i decided to raid it but i cant even rate it well cuz its SO BAD. known mainly for their unagi, we got it and it tasted like MUD. ITS THE FIRST TIME I HAD UNAGI TASTE SO BAD IT WAS MUDDY. its ong worse than those frozen ones from the grocery store… HOWS THAT EVEN POSSIBLE??? ANDDDD THE SAUSE TASTED GENERIC AND TOO SWEET. (-5)/5
then i got the nigiri and mini udon set meal which tasted like tastedless fish on top of unseasoned rice, and one of tjem (the yellowish one) WAS EVEN FISHy??? LEGIT HARD TO EAT HOWS IT SO DISGUSTING. the tempura was bland and so was the udon- it just tasted like they sprayed some tsuyu into some water with store brought noodles. but it was the best thing from this unpalatable dog water dog food set… 0/5
we also got a large plain unagi whoch tasted even MORE muddier and soaked in a sweet boring sauce (-5)/5
their cream zensai was so sweet that even the americans be running awau from it like its the plague. the mochi was wow mochi ans combined with the red bean it uust tasted like sweet swwet swweeet red bean 0/5
however their hochija pudding was nice- while its still too sweet its aroma was alluring and its pudding was almost perfect (more on the firm side) so perhaps cooking it for 15 min less will do the job 3.5/5
overall (-2)/5 AVOID AVOID AVOID
