They serve you all of the popular sauces, tartar, chili, cocktail plus Tabasco. Good selection of beers to choose from. We had an attentive waitress as well. Eddie’s is worth a visit. You’ll be back!
Gluten free and celiac diners will love all of the options. The folks here are mindful and knowledge about GF needs.
We started with the calamari. The calamari itself was very tender, which I appreciated, but unfortunately the breading was extremely light and completely lacking in seasoning. It had almost no flavor at all, and the coating fell right off. We had to add quite a bit of salt just to make it enjoyable. That said, the marinara sauce served with it was delicious and definitely the highlight of the appetizer.
For my entrée, I ordered the fish and chips and substituted onion rings for fries. My mom ordered the fish tacos. She enjoyed hers — the mango and pineapple added good flavor, and while the cheese crust wasn’t her favorite, I could see why others might like it. My fish and chips had the same issue as the calamari: the batter was flavorless. It wasn’t bad, but it tasted like plain cooked flour rather than a seasoned batter. The tartar sauce helped a lot, but the dish relied heavily on it for flavor.
Overall, the food was just okay. Nothing was inedible, but for a place with such a strong reputation, I was surprised by how little seasoning there was across multiple dishes. I don’t quite understand the rave reviews when the breading and batter are so bland. I may give it another try, but this first visit didn’t live up to the hype for me.
Was pretty excited for this dinner thinking about it more or less all week long as my one cheat meal, so when Friday came around I ordered ahead of time over the phone for take out. Going with an order of a Caesar salad, the lobster bisque, and the calamari basket.
It was all ready within 10-12 minutes and the cashier I dealt with, Christina, was super friendly and processed my payment lightning fast. In total I did end up paying $47, which I felt was a tad pricy, but maybe the food would be worth it?
Well once home I dug into everything, starting with the soup which was amazing! I could have eaten an entire bowl of the stuff and still had room for more. The salad was equally great, with just the right amount of shredded cheese and the included dressing was also the perfect amount to cover everything after a few tosses. And then I came to the calamari basket, in which I went with the side of onion rings and french fries. My first point was that the onion ring were shoestring and very sweet, and sadly were pretty lightly fried so they were all soft. The fries were also pretty under fried, their color was pale and had a far more distingue raw potato texture and flavor. The calamari itself was actually fried very well, but it was so bland. I really needed the marinara sauce for dipping, because it had zero seasoning.
Overall I felt like the container for the calamari basket didn’t work for what it was holding, it was a kind of paper box that began to deform because the fried food filled it with steam. Which ended up just steaming itself, making what should have been crispy into soggy.
In the end accounting for the price, the service, and the food quality I would give this a 3.5 out of 5, but google doesn’t do half stars so I’m rounding up to 4.
