Eastside has closed, the new (and amazing) restaurant is called Blackhawk…

The atmosphere is wonderful, the food was really good (among other things, I highly recommend the Wedge Salad!!!) & our server Kyle helped make it a great experience.

If you’re in or around the Avalon Park area, I Highly Recommend giving Blackhawk a try.

Great place for a chill afternoon or evening out with delicious food. Service is very good here. Super polite and never let our drinks get near empty. I like that they have daily specials so any time you come you could try something new you may not have ventured to try before since it’s got a deal on it. Will definitely come back!

went here with my friends after a local bar crawl in the area and we were looking for some quick finger food! we get sat and no one took our drink orders which was bizarre? my friend asked if she could get chicken on nachos instead of beef, so the server said “let me check” and from the POS system she screamed “we can do that” so my friend assumed all was good! my other friend ordered a pretzel with beer cheese, and the cheese tastes so artificial (so gross it gave me goosebumps) and the pretzel was raw/doughy that she couldn’t eat it (thankfully they took it off the check). i ordered just some fried mozzarella and it was $13 for 4 circles of cheese with weird red sauce.

overall, the food here is mid and overpriced. worst of all, my friend was surprised with a $4 up-charge on her chicken replacement, that was NEVER mentioned by the server. i mentioned it to the server at checkout and she literally ignored me and asked for my card to pay. i’m unsure if they just didn’t like that we were coming after an event or just ordered some finger food but it was for sure one of the worst dining experiences i’ve had in a while. giving 2 stars because there was one server running around that was actually nice and helped us with our pretzel issue!

We came on a Sunday to try their brunch, food was really good!! Also they have unlimited mimosas with different juices and fruits to add into your cup. We ended up getting the chicken and waffles, steak and eggs, and the eggs Benedict. All was really delicious!! Definitely worth a visit if you’re near the Avalon area. We will be coming back to try their dinner/bar menu 🙂

Gave this place another shot. Been here going on three years. Went twice in our first six months. Didn’t like it. Figured it’s one of the few places around still surviving in Avalon, let’s try again. That was a mistake.

Ordered food delivery this time, since never had a good experience inside and seen a lot of comments of people with similar experiences on social media. Wife craved a burger and figured they got good looking burgers on their menu let’s try it.

Quote from my wife, “If making burgers that sound good on the menu totally bland, they nailed it.”

From what I heard of hers, meat tasted completely unseasoned, herb mayo comment was “where’s the herbs?” And she ordered it well done and it was close to a medium maybe medium well and still with a little pink and tasted off. Ssid there was more flavor in the fries than the burger. McDonald’s has more flavor cause at least they douse theirs in salt. And this is the $21 kobe burger. Total ripoff.

For me, I ordered the French dip. Wish I could give a complete review on it but they forgot to put in the dip that makes it A FRENCH DIP. So I had a dry roast beef and Swiss sandwich. I tried to call the restaurant three times and only got a full voicemail box. Luckily I was able to get in touch with the delivery service Sauce and they gave me a refund since I couldn’t reach the restaurant to resolve it. I ended up throwing out 3/4 of the sandwich and made myself a roast beef sandwich of my own with some Oscar Meyer beef, not even Boars Head and it had more flavor and moisture. The caramelized onions if you can call them that, tasted off as well and I legit feel sick now as well as I type this.

Needless to say, this is the last shot I’m giving this place. I don’t know how of all the good places that have come and gone through Avalon this one is still clenching on to life.

What an amazing place to visit. You can come through out the day for a family lunch and enjoy the bar atmosphere at night. No matter the occasion it’s just a nice place to check out, the staff is amazing, the menu is budget friendly, and the food is delicious! Don’t miss out, check it out!

Are you looking for a bar in Avalon Park that has great food and an awesome atmosphere? Then check this place out because it has all of the above and then some. New ownership as well and they have some big plans. Brunch has unlimited mimosas or bloody marys.

Yet another instance whereas I don’t understand how this establishment gets a negative review. The food here was fantastic. Beau sat and served us. He’s a super friendly guy who made us feel welcomed.
I had the blues cheese chicken tacos. So good it was ridiculous. A little spice from the hot sauce and a little funk from the blue cheese…..and all tasty. Also, pls try the spinach and artichoke dip. It’s perfect. You can get it with a combo of tortilla chips and pita wedges. I also thought the fries were absolutely perfect. I read some negative reviews about the fries……but mine were perfectly fried.
Will definitely be back.

Had a great experience for a Friday lunch. The atmosphere was comfortable and relaxing with seating indoors and out. Stephen greeted us promptly and was very helpful making selections from the menu. We ordered the Turkey and Brie Panini with house-made chips and the Jam-N-Brew Burger with fries. The burger just sounded delicious; Bacon jam, vine-ripe tomatoes, cheddar cheese, applewood smoked bacon, bistro chips, Fat Tire beer cheese and herb mayo on a pretzel bun. …and it was, but this must be eaten with a knife and fork. The fries were awful though. Why would a restaurant buy potatoes that were squirted through a tube? Fortunately, my wife offered some of her chips. Her panini was delicious too. Lots of brie, apple slices, applewood smoked bacon, ham and turkey. We are definitely coming back to try more menu selections.

I’m giving two stars because we’ve ordered from them in the past and the food has been good. However, this order was absolutely horrible. For starters, we ordered through DoorDash and ordered a $10 “Brownie Sundae” which is advertised as a brownie with ice cream, whipped cream, walnuts and chocolate syrup. They only sent us a small square brownie, and it wasn’t even that good. I had vanilla ice cream at home thankfully. $10 for a small brownie square with no toppings. Also, we ordered a bananas foster cheesecake and they sent the cheesecake without any sauce, no whipped cream on top, and completely missing the top layer of cake. Another $10. Lastly, they sent the French onion soup uncooked in a styrofoam cup! Completely uncooked with unmelted cheese on top. We literally opened it and cackled (we did appreciate the laugh), but for the money we paid, these items were really disappointing. After they had a great health inspection my mom and I were very excited to order in from here. But after this we’ve decided we’re not going to eat from this place again. And we’re disappointed about this!!! DoorDash only gave us $6 back as a credit, which we don’t find to be fair. (The soup is not getting eaten and you’ll see why in the attached photo, and that alone cost more than the $6) And we no longer recommend the French onion soup (which she’s ordered many times in the past and loved. It’s NEVER looked like this before.)
