Small, cozy bagel shop with an amazing staff. Everyone was friendly, welcoming, and made the experience even better. The bagel itself was very good and high quality, though if I am being picky, it did not fully hit that classic New Jersey bagel standard. Still, between the great service and the overall quality, it absolutely deserves five stars. I would definitely come back.

I never used to come here until last year. A wonderful local joint for great breakfast. I usually come on the weekends since they close around 1pmish. My go to is the Big Breakfast. Pay in cash and save. Support your local business!

Stopped in today for bagels, got turned off by the counter help, girl walks up to help me scratching her pierced ear, i just looked at her but didn’t say anything, as she encounters me with a can I help you she continues to scratch her face and her forehead, no gloves nothing, didn’t even proceed to wash her hands with soap and water… mind you she is the one serving the food and I’m sure she works the grill and puts her hands all over the bagel she butters for you.. ended up leaving.. I guess that’s what you get for having young girls run your business.. never again as I was a customer.. girl was of medium build with multiple piercings in her right ear and nose.. come on dunellen bagel, you can do better. Hope the owner sees this post and teaches these girls some hygiene in front of customers..

Best bagel shop around! Bagels may not be the largest around but they are dense, delicious and made old school in a water bath. They’ve been doing what they do for over 25 years.
Staff and owner is friendly, fast and efficient.
It’s not eat in. Take out only. During nice weather they have patio tables and chairs that you can sit outside.
We’ve tried many local bagel places and this is HANDS DOWN our go to bagel shop. Don’t hesitate to stop in and pick up a “bakers dozen”!

I visited this business on a Wednesday. I requested a deluxe ham and cheese sandwich on a toasted bagel. I pay for the bagel. I leave and discover that it has none of the items on it that I requested, onions, lettuce, mayonnaise, etc., etc. I come back on a Saturday and I look the person straight in their eyes and I asked specifically for a ham and cheese deluxe sandwich on a toasted bagel. What do they give me, a turkey and cheese deluxe. I don’t understand why it’s so difficult to get what you asked for and pay for. I’m sure you guys can do better, unless this is intentional.

I always had Dunellen Bagel when I lived there and it’s the best bagel I’ve ever had. I moved and bagels aren’t the same here so everytime I visit Jersey I have to go to Dunellen Bagel and I have my husband addicted too. He’s never tasted a bagel like this and he was amazed. So we bring bagels back home in our carry-on and freeze them at home. I would 100% definitely recommend this place!

Man this was THE place to go since 7th grade back in 1999. When I was in the service that was one of the 1st stops coming back home. It is just bad now, like real bad. They used to have a line wrapping the block on the weekends but would STILL answer the phone. Called twice on the way there this morning, no answer, get there, 4 girls crowding the grill just talking. Grill only fits 1 to 2 people, so 2 of them were just standing there. Phones ringing off the hook, all 4 of them ignored it. There was only 1 other customer in the store with me. Didn’t matter they ignored the phone, now I see why my calls were ignored, i gave the benefit of the doubt that they were crazy busy. Nope. Then one girl disappeared to a side table to go on TikTok. People outside said this is common place now, no customer service and they dont answer the phone. Sucks because noone else makes bagels as good as these. May want to check who youre hiring man, the twin brothers that have worked there since I was a kid weren’t there, and it shows. They were rock solid and kept the line down.

Thought this place would be good because of the reviews. Our bagels and everything else on it was super SALTY. We couldn’t even finish eating them. I also asked for cheddar cheese and got american processed cheese slices. I never had a Everything bagel loaded with salt ontop.

Always fresh bagels. They also have a grill for sandwiches. They have a nice selection of cream cheeses. Lox maple walnut, garlic etc….. they make the bagels onsite and the ovens are viewable by the customers. This is a small take out only facility.

The place has a local neighborhood vibe. Went with the pork roll, egg, and cheese. overall pretty good. I do agree with other reviewers that they should cut sandwhich in half as a general rule.
