Its hard to find really good, authentic Mexican food. This place hits all those points. They constantly have daily specials. I was there on Taco Tuesday and got the carnitas tacos. (FYI: The only toppings that belong on a taco is cilantro, onion, and a squeeze of lime on corn tortillas! lbs) They didn’t disappoint.

Nice little Mexican food spot located in the downtown area. Got right it, and our order was taken right away.
Food came out fast, but in stages, all in all, it wasn’t a big deal. I think they only had 1 person work upfront and one cooking. No drink refills, most likely due to this, this wasn’t a good thing.
The chips and salsa, cheese, and chips were really good. The steak, chicken, and shrimp were a very large portion and were well made. Birria tacos were most and full of flavor. The torta tacos were really good.

Everytime i go the owner is respectful and kind. the food here is very good, i have yet to find a place in the area that compares to this place. The only place i can think that compares was this place in arizona. I love going here definitely a place to go out of your way to eat at.

This place is fantastic. Got the steak burrito, its massive! My wife got the combo fajitas, amazing portions. Large margiitas that are tasty. We will be back for sure! Service was excellent, food came out quick.

AUTHENTIC Mexican food at a great cost! Their birria tacos were out of this world! The queso, $5 margs on Monday, and $2.50 Mexican beer all week from 3-5pm. Amazing food. Great service. For the yeo of us to eat an appetizer, two taco meals, and a frozen marg, we only spent $25! We will definitely be back!

Figured I’d try this place instead of my normal go to being El cantarito the other night, tacos were pretty flavorless, chips and salsa was just ok and the girl at the register wasn’t very friendly. There’s better options in chesterton with better service and better food. Not the worst I’ve had but probably won’t go back.

I hate to leave bad reviews, but this place does not live up to the hype. Maybe it’s because I’m from Hammond, but I thought the food was pretty bland and not as authentic as others have said. If you order a side of chips and salsa, it’s a tiny portion barely enough for two people, and the chips were stale.
The prices are outrageous for the mediocre quality food, and the poor service from whatever teenager is working that day. I ordered from here a couple weeks ago, and the girl at the counter pulled her phone out and took a selfie in the middle of handing me my order. Are you joking? I had my arm extended and everything and she literally pulled out her phone to send someone a photo of herself. Insane. I understand it isnt a professional environment but that’s just insane to me.
I’d say don’t waste your time or money going here, if you want authentic Mexican…there’s better options in Chesterton.

Just had Joes Tacos tonight for the first time and definitely wont be the last did not disappoint from the first bite! The food was excellent, got chicken enchilada dinner, three beef taco dinner and a flauta dinner. Enough food for about three days, cant say enough about this place but thanks for making a great dinner for the fam

On June 22, 2024, I ate at Joe’s and devoured the carne asada after a long day of work. The steak was crazy delicious with generous sides of rice, beans, guacamole and grilled onions and jalapeños and tortillas. I highly recommend this dish!
I wrote this review a few months ago and it still applies…Cozy, little Mexican restaurant with great atmosphere. I love the music, decor and most of all the food! They serve generous portions of authentic Mexican food. I have had the pleasure of eating many tacos here, pozole and most recently the Durango Especial which is grilled chicken and shrimp in a light cheese sauce. Delicious!
