Known for their fried catfish however I ordered it for lunch broiled, with three sides and hushpuppy. Very fast service. The food was excellent for the low price. I purchased their nationally famous catfish breading to take home. Wow! Excellent every time!

I’m just gonna say if you are a person that likes steak, try this place! I had a 12 ounce medium rare and it was perfect. Pink prefect middle and leaving red juices on my plate and it was still so tender you barely had to chew it! And I ate the whole thing without having to trim all kinds of junk it was a very clean steak and that’s hard to find for me!

Very clean, pleasant atmosphere, friendly staff. Came for a late lunch/early dinner on a Sunday. Business picked up a bit after that, but it never got crowded or noisy. Food came quickly and everything was correct on each order. Staff was friendly and attentive without being overbearing. Hush puppies, okra, and catfish had great flavors. Fried pickles were a nice start to the meal. There’s nothing we were served that we didn’t eat. I’d stop in again if I was in the area. Several of the desserts sounded great, we just didn’t have any room.

The service and atmosphere were great at Dowds. The hostess and waitress were super friendly. The only letdown was the catfish. It definitely wasn’t the worst catfish ever, but I think it could have used a little more seasoning/flavor in the mix. It was a great price. The wife and I split the 8 piece dinner for $19.99.I’m pretty sure we got more than 8 pieces, and with the sides, we had more than plenty for 2 people.
