There are no words. (Actually, turns out there are, and I’m about to write a lot of them.)

My wife and I stopped in Portland on our way to a wedding but it was also our anniversary, and several people told us that Don’s was absolutely the place to go to celebrate. We owe all of them a million dollars. What a find!!

Don himself was there bringing food to all the tables and charming everyone there, and we got to enjoy the special menu just for August. I love that the menu also had a note from Don inviting us to learn the meaning and story behind the food we were going to eat.

Since there were two of us we ordered one standard and one vegetarian menu and shared everything. (Do we move to Portland just to be able to try more months’ menus?) Every course was exceptional but the ones that shook us to our very bones were the hors d’oeuvres, the BASIC BREAD SERVICE (best bread maybe I’ve ever eaten?!?), the filet mignon, the gnocchi, and the cheese course. Probably bc we thought (incorrectly) that we’d had those things before.

Wrong. We had not. Now I will never enjoy bread again because nothing will ever live up to the bread we had at Don’s (can a person sue someone for ruining bread for them forever? Just kidding. I could never hurt you, Don). Even the butter I was talking about for weeks. I noticed a table near us didn’t finish their butter and almost asked them if I could have it if they weren’t going to eat it all.

I’m not much of a drinker but my wife loves good wine and we enjoyed sitting back and relaxing while their team took care of pairing each course perfectly for her.

We’re sad to live on the other side of the US but we can’t say enough good things about our anniversary dinner at Don’s and we will absolutely be back any time we’re on the same coast. Thank you to the whole team for an incredible experience.

The loveliest little restaurant in downtown Beaverton. We came here for our anniversary and it did not disappoint. Love a fixed menu that takes the decision making out of ordering. Such a cute and cozy vibe inside. Phenomenal wine list – you can do a glass, bottle or full pairing with your courses (highly recommend). Would also get reservations, it’s a pretty small space. They do have a vegetarian menu as well. Staff was so friendly and thoughtful!

This is definitely a hidden gem in Beaverton! The set menu rotate monthly and November menu was delicious! Chef Don brings out each course to your table and explains in detail the course. It is a very personal touch and makes you feel like part of the family. Great Italian food to celebrate any occasion with good friends and family. Definitely worth the price! Should celebrate your next occasion at Don’s!!

My partner and I love Don’s. It is one of our favorite restaurants. The food is amazing. We’ve tried both the regular and the vegetarian menus and have not been disappointed. The staff is amazing and courteous. Don has quite the resume but is down to earth and will chit chat if he has time. The atmosphere is nice. The pricing is fair but ranges depending on the menu. I totally recommend the wine pairing. The cool thing is that they have a half glass option which is great bc I’m a lightweight. Definitely recommend coming here if you are a foodie or if you wanna have a nice meal.

My wife and I came here for our anniversary and absolutely loved it. The food is incredible and incorporated both flavor and texture I’ve never even experienced before. I’m going to just rave about the food for a minute. The mushroom manicotti crepe was the best I’ve ever had hands down. The crepe was delicate and the filling was so smooth and luxurious. The pistachio pesto was similarly inspired. I love pesto and eat a lot of it and I’d never had pesto like that. The beef braciole fell apart on the fork and I loved the layers of flavor with filling, sauce, and squash. The last two dishes, the concord grape granita and the pumpkin semifreddo, were just insanely good. Don came by to tell us about each course, and service was attentive without interrupting the conversation. Speaking of which, the atmosphere in this place rules. I loved that we could see the kitchen, and the music was tasteful and not too loud to talk. The decor is great too and backed up the intimate feel. Thanks Don & co for an amazing evening!

2025 update: Don’s Favorite foods is always a immersive culinary experience.

I’ve had two wonderful experiences where the simple things have wowed me the most.
The simple linguini was so simple but also demonstrated why some people can be such connoisseurs of pasta shapes and texture, with rich complexity from simple sungold tomato sauce.

The cioppino seafood was the only disappointing dish as one could tell it was from frozen and not live shrimp.

2024 review: Truly an experience dinner. Each of the many little dishes had bursting flavor and precise texture combinations. I loved how the octopus and potato coquette dish made the octopus as tender as normal mashed potatoes, while the potato coquette was compressed to have an almost dense meaty bite.

Small, intimate dining area with great good. Pre fixe, so only drink decisions need to be made at the time of dining.

You won’t leave hungry. The anti pasta portions were very generous. The rest of the ourses weren’t huge, but a normal portion. Each course was delicious and flowed well. It looks like the menu changes every month keeping the menu fresh. Highly recomend.

Wow.
Prix fixe menu that was so delicious! I am not one to take pictures of my meals but I know this is a new place and wanted to share. Don and his crew have done a wonderful job. They’ve created an intimate, delicious dining experience that takes you on a journey. My favorite part was the personal touches Don added to the menu, I literally cried reading about the dessert and how special it is to him and his father. (Getting teary-eyed right now just thinking about it!). The foods are exceptional and executed perfectly. The pasta was perfect and was made that morning. The eggplant parmesan cut like butter and melted in your mouth. The clams were so well-balanced. The dessert- literally tear-inducing. Wine was delicious too!
Very small kitchen and it’s amazing what they have achieved in such a small space. They run like a well-oiled machine and their comradery shows through in the dishes they create. The maitre d is also lovely! Absolutely cannot wait to go back and say hello to Don and try more of his favorite foods!

What an awesome experience. All the dishes are so good, and it’s such a cute place. Adding the wine pairings is a MUST, I enjoyed every single wine we got to try and they were each matched perfectly with the dishes. I went with my dad but would absolutely come back for date night with my husband.
