Uyghur Polo: the rice tasted great and lamb was perfectly cooked, very tender. I would definitely order this again.
Manta (steamed dumplings): the dumplings are filled with beef and are very juicy. Topped with black pepper, which adds a nice flavor. I would order this again.
The service was good, the waiter was attentive. It’s very nice inside. Comfortable chairs. Clean bathroom.
I can’t wait to come back and try some new dishes!
Everything was seasoned well and cooked perfectly. Raisins inside the dishes were delightful and cut through the savory of the dish. Yogurt with honey fluffed so nicely and contained the perfect amount of honey ontop. Will be returning to discover more of the menu.
My ignorance mistook this place as another kebab joint for the longest time. & Though they have those too, they have all of the above & more!
The restaurant is clean and beautifully decorated, it looked very similar to a nicer restaurant we ate at in Bishkek.
We enjoyed all of our dishes: Uyghur polo, Lagman, manta. All were as flavorful and memorable to our meals from our trip. I especially liked the chewy texture of the Lagman noodles.
I also ordered braised eggplant and liked that a lot.
The service we had was very good, authentic even, our waiter provided that he’s originally from Kyrgyzstan. Our food came out quickly. I just noted for the size of this place, there were only 2 waiters on a Sunday night. Should the place fill to capacity, they would need more help.
Our little family of 4 (kids 6 & 10) had a great dinner and we’ll be back! My attached pictures don’t do justice for presentation since we all tore into the food quickly and didn’t think to take any pictures at first.
The Goshnaan and the Plate Chicken are still my fave dishes from their menu. Cucumber with Garlic was a nice and healthier addition to our meal. We also tried the Spicy Rice Noodle and Hand Cut Stir Fried Noodle, but both dishes were disappointing and bland. There has been noticeable improvement since their soft opening, but they still have a ways to go to catch up to their sister restaurant in Alhambra.
As for the food, it was good—simple, hearty, and satisfying—but it didn’t quite blow me away. The flavors were mild, and while it was enjoyable overall, I was expecting a bit more complexity or depth.
One thing to note is the pricing—it’s on the higher side for the portion sizes, which felt a bit underwhelming. Still, it’s a solid spot if you’re curious about Uyghur cuisine or want something different from the usual options in Irvine.
Update: rounded up a few family members and came here for its Big Plate Chicken. It was excellent as it was perfected spices and the chicken was tender. Tried its skewers as well and they were better than those we were getting from other local eateries.
