I absolutely adored this restaurant when I was in Gulf Shores. Get the fried shrimp and gumbo! You won’t regret it. Very laid back atmosphere and the staff was friendly and helpful. Plus I liked how they serve your drinks in pitchers for you to have right at your table. The sweet tea was perfect.

I see some low reviews. However, we had a fantastic lunch. Wife’s shrimp was great. I ordered all you can eat fish fillets. They brought 3 out on first order, then 3 more before I was done and then 3 more before I was done with those three. Waitress showed us how to make our own cocktail sauce and how to make as spicy or as mild as we wanted by how we mix it.

Good fried seafood. I had the platter with fish, oysters, shrimp and stuffed crab. Wife had the pick 2: fried oysters and boiled shrimp and son had kids fish (he ate it all plus an oyster and 2 shrimp). It was all good. The fries were really good. We arrived about 5:30 on a Wednesday and did not have to wait. There was a 30 minute wait when we left at 6:45. Service was friendly and reasonably fast. They provide pitchers of extra drink so you never run dry. The make-your-own cocktail sauce is always fun. The key lime pie was super. $58 plus tip. Not cheap the atmosphere is friendly but crowded with not much space between tables like Cracker Barrel.

I had “the best fried shrimp in the civilized world”. I have to say that they were the lightest and most delicate shrimp I’ve ever eaten. The batter was also delicate. I like the make your own cocktail sauce and that they bring you a pitcher of your drink so that you can refill whenever you need it. I hear there is live music after 3 PM. Wait staff were excellent. Even better than during the busy season. Great quick (unless parking lot is full) fried lunch place.

Our waitress was not attentive. She did not want to be at work, you could tell. I ordered a grilled chicken salad. It wasn’t fresh as far as vegetables go, the chicken was tasteless and dry, and the salad was small and not at all worth what I paid for. My boyfriend ordered soft shell crab with a side of fries. His crab was fishy and greasy. His gumbo was decent, but way over priced. Overall we both ate for about $50 and felt completely taken advantage of when it comes to price and quality of food. I can say we will not be back, ever!

Only thing good was the shrimp. Lots of breading..but good. Service was VERY slow, we thought they forgot about our order. Most of the food other than shrimp was bland and nothing special. Considering this place almost always has a wait…not worth it at all in my opinion. If it was cheap and much faster…might be a decent quick meal, but not worth it currently.

Definitely a dive, albeit a good one. It’s a little on the dirtier side, but if you can overlook that it’s worth it. They boast about having “the best fried shrimp in the civilized world”. I’d say they’re in the running. The onion rings are the best I’ve ever had. Our waiter was awesome, was super accommodating and friendly. This was the best food we’ve had in Gulf Shores. If you have the chance to eat here, go for it.

It’s a seafood dive joint. Most things are served in a basket. They claim that “they have the best fried shrimp of anywhere in the civilized world”. That slogan is everywhere in this place. I wanted to try it but really didn’t know what to expect. I didn’t know if the shrimp were butterflied or what. I ordered it. It was freaking delicious. The shrimp were breaded in this amazing batter that didn’t overpower the shrimp flavor. They were de-tailed and the cocktail sauce was also delicious. They said they make it themselves, but it tasted very much like Bookbinders brand, kind of horseradishy and delicious. We also ordered their “world famous onion rings”. Again they were awesome. The food was very good. The only bad thing was i spent $85 on lunch on a Monday for me, my wife, a 3 and 6 year old and a 15 year old. I was the only one that had seafood. Kind of pricey.

Very good seafood – our waiter was nice and personable too – he got us the food we wanted and we had a couple of drinks. Two kids and two adults got out for about $100 – so around here’s that seems down the middle on price. Drinks, for whatever reason, in this whole tourist area seem really small and beer is always in plastic mugs or cups. Might have gotten spoiled by big cold glass Texas mugs of beer at our local places back home.
